Best free MMO/RPGS

I did the wow thing for almost 5 years straight and im done with it. I'm now looking for a nice relaxing mmo thats not too addicting with a pretty good fan base. any ideas

I've got to pimp my favorite game, Lord of the Rings Online. It's free to play, though you do have to buy areas as you get higher level through Turbine Points. You can earn a bunch of Turbine Points in game through activities. The fan base is not too bad, but there are some real special ones. I love the lore, there's some cool stuff and some trite lore but over all a fun game.

forsaken world is probably the best wow-ripoff f2p mmo

i dunno because i don't play shitty mmos where you farm 90% of the time just to spend 6 hours fighting trash mobs to fail at the 3rd boss

lotro is supposed to be quite good as far as f2p stuff goes as d-dave said.

I tried forsaken world but didnt really enjoy it. dunno.

i liked ddo well enough to spend 50$ on it eventually, and its a freemium model like lotr, not exactly f2p

ddo requires a wider skill set than any other online rpg i know of

ddo frustrated me because of the way leveling was handled, but it is a very fun game, especially if you have a group of friends to play it with

its definitely not a game for the casual player, or someone to go at on their own

once you get a handle on leveling its not so bad, but you can blow a lot of easy xp fast if you don't know how to run things

I have been playing Wurm online good community and intersting concept. Have to pay premium though after a while.
