Pats cut CB Leigh Bodden

I recall Bodden looking good enough to merit a decent contract before. Haven't watched him this season though.

He was in the 2nd year of a 4-year, $22 mil contract. The Pats switched from mostly zone coverage to a lot of man-to-man press coverage, especially earlier in the season (they've started going back to more zone in the last few games) which wasn't really their secondary's forte. I think Bodden will pass through waivers and wind up going to a contender. I could see the Saints or Cowboys going after him.

Bodden actually does have a connection with the Panthers, but it's on the wrong side of the ball.

Panther OC Rob Chudzinski was on the Browns coaching staff in 2004 (TE coach) and 2007 (OC). Bodden was in Cleveland both years (played there from 2003 through 2007).

Receiver coach Fred Graves was also on the Browns staff in 2004, so he'd have been coaching guys going against Bodden in practice.

    • It's definitely a historical issue at QB but to be perfectly blunt, we also don't do a good job of really developing almost any position if you look at the last decade or so. I tend to be on the side of that being far less a development issue than an evaluation deficiency.  I think we are in the situation at QB2/3 recently due to the overall roster being absolutely abhorrent and the QB classes being quite thin. It is harder to justify another Matt Corral(or several) when you can potentially get a real two deep contributor at other positions.  But, it was a lot of hard work to get to the point where are roster is so incredibly bad that luxury picks literally are not in our vocabulary.  This is the reaping what you sow portion of our history.
    • That is what I meant about our front office. They are like someone filling out a March Madness bracket based on preference of uniform colors and mascots. There's no rhyme of reason to some of these fugg'n mind numbing decisions they make.  They go all in on these flimsy-@ss prospects and are gun shy when it comes to more solid prospects.  It's literally maddening and the reason I stopped being so emotionally involved in this team. Heck the only reason I'm active on the board today is one, it's my day off and two, it's cut down time.
