Primary Concerns: Coaching & Defensive Playmakers

What other choice did they have? Ron Edwards went down in TC and there was not another DT available with his talent. What was left was a DT that was suspended for 3 games and a DT with major shoulder problems. Its not like we ignored the problem its just that there is no good solution to it.

There were guys out there that could have helped. Maybe even a guy like Derek Landri, who held his own last year, and is still available. At this point, there is no reason to do anything, but in early August, there was a reason and we should have done it.

He was re-signed by the Eagles a while ago.

You also have to understand players have to want to play for us. I think it was clear Landri was done with the Panthers. Trust me we will target another DT FA this year if there is one good enough available. Players will want to play for us simply cause they know what our offense can do next season. We will not be a basement team.

It's week 8 of the regular season, that reasoning doesn't work anymore.

Maybe for you cause your cynical in every post you make and dont understand Football. Some systems takes more time then others and when your playing with a young team and scrubs, the learning curve is just that much greater.

If they haven't picked it up after training camp and 8 weeks of regular season then what were a handful of days wearing shorts going to change about that?

That reasoning was thrown around like a frisbee here and you picked it up and keep repeating it. If you think about just how few OTA's there are compared to the daily practice and meetings since it's just silly to keep that up. The OTA thing is something that the media and fans grabbed on to and just wont let go no.

You just dont understand how hard it is for a team to gel when there is a revolving door at LB and your interior is complied with 2 rookies and some more scrubs off the street. Its ok, blame the team if you want but it just shows your ignorance of Football.

1. Where did I blame anybody?

2. Who the else is there to blame but the team? Are you saying it's not the teams fault that they aren't good at defense?

You are using the OTA reasoning, and that shows your ingnorance of common sense.

The defense is struggling because they don't have much talent.

I missed where they brought him back after cutting him. My point was that he was a guy available early in the season...but again, he was just an example. Just about anyone would have helped us after Edwards went down. Even the ones we ended up signing may have been able to contribute more if we had gotten them into camp.

I just feel it was irresponsible to go into the season with two rookies and Neblett. That is asking for trouble.

Our defense sucks because 4 out of our front 7 are just guys.

Not sure what's difficult about that.

Like I said in my OP, I'm not trying to lay the blame all in one direction and I didn't have high expectations coming into the season. Additionally, I acknowledged the injuries but as I said, I'm just not satisfied with our coaching. What I'm not saying: "Oooh our defense sucks & the coaching sucks!!"

If beyond the injuries and low expectations, you're still pleased with Rivera, props to you. Its week 8 and I expect a much more disciplined team.

Maybe I don't understand what you're arguing against here but I think there's a clear rookie coaching curve just like players experience.

That's all ;)
