Penn State...what did Paterno know?

From my CFB board. Guy claims this email is from a former PSU player who lives in University Park and has ties to the Athletic Dept.

Crazy Joe going rogue.

Joe could be gone as head coach by the close of business today. He will not remain quiet, as the university trustees and lawyers are demanding him to do. Cancelling the press conference will not silence him. He will get his version of what went on out there, and the lawyers be damned. He cannot survive this, and it might end today with him being fired for insubordination. He will not go quietly into the night, and if he takes down everyone, so be it."

It's definitely over, but Joe will fight to the death and not go out gracefully. In his eyes, he is innocent and he's not going to resign in disgrace, or go away quietly. People don't want to believe it, but this could end today or tomorrow, but certainly ends at some point. The university is worried to death about legalities only. Joe is worried about his legacy...only. You think it's ugly now? It will get much, much worse. Joe is done. McQueary is done. In college football forever. I feel bad for the current players, but like at every big-time school, the players are hired slugs that do what they're told to do. Win games. And keep your mouth shut. It was that way when I played there and that's how it is everywhere. No different in this case."

It ends in the next 24-48 hours is my truest feeling. I'm being told he will not coach this game this Saturday. He will not resign, and they're working on a plan to fire him if necessary. And I believe it absolutely will be necessary. I'm positive he will not resign, nor admit any ounce of guilt. This is the only fight he cannot win, but he doesn't see it that way. Nor does he care. He will go out with guns blazing, not shrink away in shame."

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
