Why Did We Get Rid Of Kasay?

Yep replacing kasay with mare was extremely dumb.. plenty of FA kickers out there we could'va tried out but never bothered to.

letting kasay go was absolutely the right decision.

we just picked the wrong guy to replace him with.

kasay's days are numbered in the league and it's time to move on.

Agreed, except that we chose an equally aged kicker. So the logic doesn't quite hold out.

Kasay: 22/27, long 53 (81.5%), 33/33 on PAT

Mare: 14/18, long 45 (77.8%), 18/19 on PAT

(yeah, I know you weren't serious...)

I'm talking about Mare's stats when he was with the Saints.

Kasay: 22/27 82% Ranked 23rd

Mare: 14/18 78% Ranked 28th

Kasay has NOT been spectacular this season. Clutch at times? Maybe, definitely moreso than Mare. Kasay can't kickoff though. I'm gonna give Mare some more time before I start hating him, but I still don't agree with the huge contract.

It's a big problem when your kicker has a 12m contract and cannot make 50 yarders.. and misses game winners.

In one of DeAngelo Williams video blog sessions there was a small quip about the possibility of Kasey being let go because he was union rep or something during the lockout.

So I guess it is possible he was let loose for angering the big cat.

Yeah, I had no problem getting rid of Kasay, just wish we had gotten a better replacement.

I just find it weird that he was the one we decided not to have any loyalty for.

Mare is struggling right now, but on paper this made perfect sense.

Sorry I'm so late with a reply - my phone/DSL went out on Monday (Century Link - boooo). We got Kasay because Hartley our regular kicker went out on IR at the beginning of the season. Hurt himself kicking an extra point or something equally stupid.

How far fetched would it be for there to be just one kicker over all? I know that its 3 different kinds of kicks, but its still kicks for fugs sake!
