Never played XBOX 360 before, but contemplated getting one back when PSN was down for weeks during the hack incident.

Not real sure how the 4GB comes into play, is that sufficient for anything? Or will you have to buy an external hard drive to even use it?

4gb really won't do anything but the 250gb hdd is only 90 bucks so you could still get the equivalent of the 250gb console for 230 or just get the holiday bundle which comes with 2 games and 3 months of XBL for 299

If you download DLC for games, 4GB is not sufficient but you can fix this by using USB memory up to 16GB. It will not read anything bigger than 16GB.

I understand that you transferred files from your old to your new, now can you take files from your new and put them back on the ipod?

I still like the 16gb alternative for $11. If you have the money pick up the 250gb hard drive for $90.

Ok, so you can use a USB flash drive up to 16 GB to expand the original 4GB size... total size 20 GB.

As for the expansion hard drive, does it have to be an official XBOX brand, or can you just pick one up at Staples/Wal-Mart/Target and use it? I know a few years back TIVO's required you to use their drives, other brands wouldn't work. I'd think MS would probably do the same.

I can't wait until MS gets past the FAT32 limitation on their expansion drives (USB flash drives). I know...I know...NTFS issues, but they need a new advanced console.

The flash drive doesn't have to be MS, if that is what you're asking.

Actually, one time I had an external hard drive hooked to my xbox (fat32 obviously) and was able to play video off it easily. I think this was before the size limitation. Obviously the limitation is just greed, cause I had a 120gig external working fine via usb on it before.

you can only use non-MS drives to transfer game saves. you can't transfer any patches, maps, downloads like you could on proprietary equipment.

PS3 has free online play and it uses the 2.5in sata HDDs found in laptops. I think in the long run you're getting a better value with it.

140$ does sound tempting though even to me but when you take into account the 50$ a year for the Xbox live service and a considerable cost for a large HDD for DLC content, the deal is not so lucrative.

For just 110$ more you can get a 160GB Playstation 3 and you'll never have to pay to play online with it. You'll be spending 100$ if you buy just two years of Xbox live. Also a 120GB 360 HDD will cost you 72$ on Amazon.

You already have a PS3 I see.
