The large print I ordered of this picture got me a signed jersey... was @ practice the other day and Cam wasn't signing anything for anybody, just walking right by. Showed him the poster-sized print of this pic and he loved it - gave him a copy and he agreed to sign my jersey.

Folks paid $110 to attend a signing on Monday, I paid $10 for this poster and got the same result... LOL

you're doing it right.

i think you've always done that, though...giving players something that could be a little special to them rather than just demanding their attention and autograph.

Yup, I've found the trick is to offer them something unique in exchange for an autograph and I've had great success with this approach - plus it just feels like the right thing to do.

If I'm bringing a cool picture to get signed, I bring them a copy as well, etc... I also make a point of being very gracious when they say no or ignore me, I've seen grown men throw a total hissy-fit when they don't get an autograph and curse a guy out within earshot which I find totally ridiculous and embarrassing. Folks that act like this ruin it for everyone else, I can see why guys get jaded and decide not to sign anything for anyone.

I don't feel like they're obligated in any way to sign anything. They're obligated to prepare all week to the best of their ability and then show up on Sunday and give 110% to help the Panthers win, anything they choose to do beyond that is totally up to them.

...funny related story:

A guy out at the practice field was yelling: "CAM! CAM! CAM!" as Cam walked by no farther then 5 feet from him, literally YELLING like he was calling his dog.

Cam stopped and looked at him and said: "What's your name?" the guy said: "Frank" then Cam yelled: "FRANK! FRANK! FRANK!" and then signed the guy's mini-helmet and kept moving.

It's a funny story, but it's idiots like this that ruin it for everyone and with the increase in stupidity like this that I've noticed with Cam's arrival (along with several full-fledged professional autograph hounds who are there EVERY DAY that I've never seen before) it may soon reach a point where the Panthers totally deny access to practices, which would be a real shame for the real fans like myself who know how to behave and are there to connect with the team, not make money off them.

I understand why Fortitude Graphics is taking heat for his Photoshop creation, but I am not entirely sure it can be considered a rip-off. I believe that if the patent for the original Superman drawing has expired then anyone can take that drawing and alter it. Personally, I have no problem with what Fortitude Graphics has done because he said it was a Photoshop and he would be doing a canvas painting of it, which would then make it original work no matter who inspired it. However I do believe that an original drawing of Cam, wearing a suit and opening his shirt to reveal his jersey, between the Panthers statues (or beside one of the statues) with the stadium or the skyline of Charlotte as a backdrop would be a print I most definitely would buy.

I appreciate the kindness man. I understand where everyone is coming from in this case. The technicalities of this picture is wishy washy because technically the way I put this together wouldn't violate any copyright laws if there were any. But morally I feel horrible because they are right and I used part of someone else's work as a platform and its just laziness on my part when I could have just created the whole suit from scratch. Either way I learned a lot from this and will move forward with a 100% original painting. Also whoever bought the poster from me will get the new one for free when its done. Here is the vid I posted earlier on the progress just so people can see how its being created

how is that not a violation of copyright law?

I may be incorrect in this, but I believe it's because the image was altered (taking out Clark Kent and putting in Cam) and placing his image into the foreground of the work. It is like a DJ taking an artist singing and placing those lyrics over the music from another song; which I believe can be sold without legal ramifications as well.

no f*cking way... taking someone else's painting and putting a different head on it does not constitute fair use.

I didn't just cut and paste... I didn't add any filters to it... I traced, warped, smudged the colors onto separate layers and then deleted the original picture. Every single brush stroke on the original suit picture is different on my version. The outline is slightly different but the actual image is so big you can't tell with the naked eye that its different. But every thing is very different in close detail. The background is my own picture and done the same way. I did the clouds from scratch. I shouldn't have done it this way anyway, I had no idea it would be so popular lol. I easily could just take a picture of me wearing a suit and do the same thing to it. But yea anyways, as much as it may look like i just used someone elses work, technically I didn't. If you can find me that clark kent picture thats 5000x8240 then you might have a case. Otherwise take the biggest one you find and blow it up to 5000x8240 and let me know how it looks. Besides if you had the image file that I have been printing on a flash drive, go get it printed 22x36, pay ebays selling charge, pay paypals taxes, and tell me how much I'm making off of each one.

    • Games been a snooze fest of sloppy play
    • ESPN's David Newton: QUARTERBACKS (2): Bryce Young, Andy Dalton A preseason muscle injury to Dalton's right arm could force the Panthers to keep Jack Plummer if the issue gets worse, but that currently doesn't seem to be a concern. For the first time since going No. 1 in 2023, there is no question that Young is the starter after winning two of his final three games last season with 10 touchdowns (7 passing, 3 rushing) and no turnovers. RUNNING BACKS (3): Chuba Hubbard, Rico Dowdle, Trevor Etienne Selecting Etienne in the fourth round out of Georgia makes veteran Raheem Blackshear a likely cut. Etienne has shown in the preseason that he is a capable option as a runner, in addition to being a returner, which has been Blackshear's primary responsibility since 2022. WIDE RECEIVERS (7): Tetairoa McMillan, Xavier Legette, Adam Thielen, Jalen Coker, Jimmy Horn Jr., David Moore, Hunter Renfrow This is the most improved group on the team, so keeping seven initially makes sense. If the Panthers go with six it could make coach Dave Canales' favorite, Moore, expendable with Renfrow showing he's close to the level he played in 2021 when he made the Pro Bowl with the Las Vegas Raiders. Brycen Tremayne, who's had an excellent preseason, will be a tough cut. TIGHT ENDS (3): Tommy Tremble, Ja'Tavion Sanders, Mitchell Evans There is anticipation Tremble (back surgery) will be ready for the regular season after coming off the PUP list before the preseason finale, though he could still miss a game or two. Keeping him on the 53-man roster makes sense so she doesn't have to miss the first four games. OFFENSIVE LINEMEN (10): T Ikem Ekwonu, G Damien Lewis, G Robert Hunt, C Austin Corbett, C Cade Mays, T Taylor Moton, T Yosh Nijman, T-G Brady Christensen, G Chandler Zavala, G Jarrett Kingston Injuries to guards Lewis (strained shoulder) and Zavala (knee) plays a factor in keeping 10 instead of the nine predicted going into camp. The starting five returning from 2024 had a solid preseason, but the lackluster play of backups showed depth remains a concern. DEFENSIVE LINEMEN (6): DE Derrick Brown, NT Bobby Brown III, DE Tershawn Wharton, DE A'Shawn Robinson, NT Cam Jackson , DE Jaden Crumedy A shoulder injury that has kept fifth-round pick Jackson from making an impact means Crumedy could make it here. The biggest cut will be Shy Tuttle, who has 32 starts the past two years but little to show for it. Moving on from him will create $2.4 million in cap space that can be used elsewhere. LINEBACKERS (10): OLB D.J. Wonnum, OLB Patrick Jones II, OLB Princely Umanmielen, OLB Nic Scourton, OLB Thomas Incoom, ILB Christian Rozeboom, ILB Trevin Wallace, ILB Claudin Cherelus, ILB Jon Rhattigan, ILB Jacoby Windmon The release of ILB Josey Jewell (concussion protocol) at the start of camp required immediate attention, but Rozeboom has stepped up well. Depth remains a big question, particularly inside. Moving on from draft pick Bam Martin-Scott means he'll likely end up on the practice squad. It was time to move on from OLB DJ Johnson. Look for turnover beyond the starters here. CORNERBACKS (5): Jaycee Horn, Mike Jackson, Chau Smith-Wade, Shemar Bartholomew, Corey ThorntonJackson has played well enough at times to ease the concern opposite Pro Bowler Horn. Thorton's play during camp has been a big surprise, but the overall depth of this group means there likely will be turnover. SAFETIES (4): Tre'von Moehrig, Nick Scott, Demani Richardson, Lathan Ransom The big question is how long it will take fourth-round pick Ransom to replace Scott as the starter opposite Moehrig. Also, don't rule out another experienced player being signed. SPECIALISTS (3): K Ryan Fitzgerald, P Sam Martin, LS JJ Jansen Big-legged undrafted free agent Fitzgerald out of Florida State may have solidified his spot over Matthew Wright with a 52-yard field goal in the second preseason game against the Texans. The other two spots are solid, but Carolina likely will keep an eye out for dependable veterans who end up being released.
