Postgame Reaction from Cam and Rivera

Rivera:

I really think that we just missed opportunities... We played a good first half... We had an opportunity to start the second half, got to 3rd and 12, you've got to make that play, you've got to understand what the coverage call is, you've got to understand your technique, push through to your technique and make the play. Bottom line, I'm not going to sugar coat it, we have to get better at those things.

Opportunities to make plays - I mean at 3rd and 12, we don't get off the field, then they get a big play down the field, then they are in field goal range, then it's 3rd down and we have a chance to stop them, but they pick it up, next thing you know they score a touchdown. I mean, we are not consistent on third down.

Until the second half I thought they came out and did some great things... We played the way you'd like in the first half but this game is four quarters. One thing I liked was the way the offense went down the field and got the touchdown and made the two point conversion to tie it at 35 35 as well gave ourselves a chance to tie the game and who knows what happens after that. Then they come out and throw a big one to 81...

Cam:

We came out explosive. That's how football is supposed to be played. Plays were called and executed, blocking, plays were in there. Second half we came out and it was as if we were just trying to hold on. Can't do that to a team like this with the explosive offense the talent they ahve on defense, have to be in attack mode all four quarters.

To some degree I do, it's the small things taht are impacting us in a big way. Finishing, executing, decision making, you know, those things you have to master in this league or you are going to get exposed. This game we put on a clinic on how to lose a game, simple and plain, going out on a limb to say it but we can't lose games like that but somehow we did.

Anyone else bugged by the way Rivera says the word "play?"

Same poo different week with these press conferences. Although Cam looks slightly less like Mopeyhead progressively after these losses. Hmm.

He should. It was better than last week. But giving up that many yardage and points is just terrible

    • At the moment? Absolutely not. Maybe if they drop the next three in a row and go into the deadline at 3-6 I can see an argument to be made to move Rico as he's on a 1yr deal. I'd rather keep Chuba's contract though and roll with ETN + JB next season. The team will have plenty of time to see how JB is looking going into the offseason a year-plus after his surgery to know whether or not they need to plan for another direction.
    • I forgot to mention my thoughts on the rushing grade! 😮 He ran his ass off both weeks. I can't remember the stat offhand but didn't he have something crazy like 120+ yards after contact vs. Dallas? Against Miami he had lanes as wide as the entirety of I-95 to run through which is why his rushing grade wasn't as high as this week's. He's ran like a man possessed and going to earn himself some money in the offseason.
    • I'm not sure how much I'm changing mid year, especially when we are seeing some success.    Most Pass Rushers are physically gifted. Scheme and personnel help, but you gotta have the Jimmys and Joes, especially at that position.    We will likely lose games when the other team can throw for 400 yards, and has multiple high level receivers, but I think at this point in the development of our franchise, we have to be ok with that. You can't address every single issue at once. Really looks like we have plugged some holes on offense, and definitely in run defense. In the next draft, if we hit on a CB, an ILB and a Pass rusher, we will be pretty dangerous.
