Pilares Again

Why would you put a guy like pIlares as a kick returner when in college he never did it?

He`s best attribute is in the slot position. I don`t get it? It`s like asking Cam to go from a QB to a field goal kicker. You Panther fans and coaches don`t have a clue...

Yeah, he's sucked as a kick returner. WTF are the coaches thinking. Fire them all!

Not saying that. Just saying if he can really do well as a kick returner just imagine what he can do in the slot. THAT`S WHERE HE NEEDS TO BE!! I`ve watched him play 4 years at Hawaii and this is where he`s best!

He was slowed up with a quad injury

Thanks for clarifying, I was wondering why it seemed like he was moving in slow motion. The guy is explosive, much moreso than we saw last game. Slightly bigger than 89 with 89's speed. Smitty also got his foot in the door as a ST's returner... I see similar potential with KP.

Hopefully he gets his shot to line up on the field with Smitty at the same time. I would love to find out if we could have 89 in stereo in some of our offensive packages. Would be beast!

Thank you! Finally a sensible person.

Huh? He's had 2 good kick returns. That doesn't make him a good slot receiver. In fact, no matter how many good returns he has, it doesn't mean he will be a good slot receiver. He's likely never to play as a WR for the Panthers. At least not for several years barring catastrophic injuries to the starters.

How Long until he is in the starting lineup? Next year even. I mean he might as well get some shots in the slot.

Kid has swag. He is already our best special teams player by a long shot. Not just returning but in the gun. Kid plays with little fear. Nothing has looked to big for him. He has immediately made an impact on the team.

I'm a huge Gettis fan and I like Edwards but I think Pilares might be something really special.

What do you like about Edwards? Pilares has some raw potential, but will never be a major factor.

If you are interested in WR, hang your hat on Gettis, Smith (for another year) and Lafell. I know we are talking about defense in the draft this year, but if you look at replacing key players who are aging out, you need to look at Gross and Smith. You lose quality at either spot and the offense returns to 2010.

4th in the league in kick return avg

http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?tabSeq=0&statisticCategory=KICK_RETURNS&conference=0015&season=2011&seasonType=REG

Was number two at one point I think

Edit: the guys ahead of him only have a few attempts

And the guys behind him have more attempts. I don't think his average will stay that high the rest of the season.

Yeah, that`s what they said about Steve Smith too. Too small blah blah blah!

He was a running back out of high school but the coaches saw how he ran routes and moved him in the slot. I recommend you seriously go online and check out youtube on all his slot receiver videos and then tell me what you think. Was 2nd in the nation in TD`s for 2010 season.
