Rivera takes a Gamble and it is paying off

Everyone did poorly in the later years of Fox, I think all the players were just sick of him and I bet it wasn't easy to play for someone who did not matter. You can talk about how it's the job and money all you want but if an ounce of you believes a player can play with desire as well then it makes sense. People just talk poo about gamble because usually if he misses a play it's going to be a big one or score, but no one worries about the missed block on a play that didn't go that direction anyways etc.

In any case it's nice to see a new coach revitalizing a vet player, I just wished other would step it up as well.

Gamble needs to have his deal restructured after this year......corners can play well into their 30's and for some reason I don't see us drafting one with a high pick next year.

I do, we have nothing for a secondary. Munnerlyn is poo, Stanford is poo, Butler is average, Hogan is unproven. We have nothing that resembles a secondary.

Agreed. Butler and Gamble stay. We don't need eliteness we just need another CB of Gamble's caliber and we are ready to go.

At other times this season, Gamble said he's been asked to shadow Atlanta's Roddy White and Green Bay's Greg Jennings for big portions of the game. He had an interception against Tennessee in man-to-man coverage and the fourth-quarter pick against Indianapolis was in zone coverage.

I don't see why Gamble wouldn't shadow the #1 WR the whole game instead of just big portions. Seems stupid to me.

garcon has been painter's main target this year

wayne got most of his yards because rj stanford was on him for some reason and because sherrod martin cant tackle worth a poo

Remember that the focus is on seeing what the young guys can do. You have to play them against good players to see whether they can cut it. If he plays well, he stays, if he doesn't, he won't be here next year. You can guarantee that Rivera is not happy with the defense and is going to make some changes. At this point is to see who is going to be here with him and to see whether they need to upgrade. I am still looking for the number 2 corner to emerge from the crowd, to show why he should be starting now and in the future. If he is there, I am underwhelmed so far.

If the focus was only on winning, you are right. But if it is an audition for next year, then you have to put your corner on a good receiver and hope your safety can give enough help over the top to limit any big plays. Martin hasn't exactly been a huge help either. You need them to work together as a team, making them both look good instead of making each other suspect. Certainly not good enough to prevent us from looking around for replacements.
