The fact that those in the media are still trying to act all shocked at how great of a QB turned out to be so far shows how full of it they were in the first place. Jamacus Russell +Vince Young = Cam Newton in the eyes of the media..Gee I wonder why.

What still pisses me off today is the way Cam was so comfortably sterotyped by the sports media. Since when did we go back to the belief that being black automatically meant you didn't have "great intangibles". They did the same thing to Josh Freeman when it appear as if he was a threat to go off the board high than the so called draft experts wanted him too.

Yeah, it seems like the new way of hiding one's true colors is to do it behind by labeling and raised "questions" about certain NFL players despite the contrary. The fact that Cam was instantly associated with Jamarcus Russell and Vince Young, to black QBs who went off the draft board high as QBs and in the eyes of the media failed, said to me the media knew what not so subtle message they were sending.

Itll be interesting to see if future prospects like Robert Griffin III are subjected to the same treatment and racial bias. If so then we really havent learned anything from a Cam Newton. Hopefully this process and the NFL will continue to catch up to the rest of society and evolve.

I don't think RGIII will get the same treatment, the media loves him. Smart kid (graduated early), married man, no off-the-field baggage. Only thing you could probably nitpick at is his size, he's not that big. Makes you wonder if he'll have similar durability issues like Vick, who's a similar size to him. But if anything, I think Cam and Freeman's success will help him avoid that type of scrutiny

rg3 looks quicker than newton but thats it DUDE is going to get BROKE just like vick. might be good qb but will not be able to stay on the feild......sorry!

get over it.

Just because you don't like and/or are uncomfortable hearing it doesn't mean what he wrote was any less true. It wouldn't have surprised me in the least last January-April if the commentators had just gone ahead and come out and labeled him "uppity" (along with his "fake smile").

That's now.

    • I meant to type more my bad…. first and main reason we’re probably trying to add him his pff scores are high very high. Being that we value that much more nowadays I know he’s on our radar. His run stopping grades were like the highest of all LBs. That would have given us top graded plates at all three levels Brown then Pratt with   JC and Moehrig were definitely stopping the run this year with these monsters fully healthy. I hope we dangling some of that Clowney money at him we need him to solidify our defense. add in the NC ties and we should be in play got his services
    • You're not even reading what I'm saying you're just ranting. It has everything to do with draft pick value vs. cap space impact. The agent knows he's holding significant draft capital over the GM's head vs. minimal cap impact. Not everyone is geared like Dave Gettleman where literally everything boils down to a dick measuring contest. History indicates the agents progressively whittle away and win the battle vs. the GMs on the rookie contracts. Hell, we have an owner throwing out typical 6th rounder guarantees at UDFAs just to secure them. He's not sweating pennies on the dollar against the cap or trying to protect his precious wallet. It's the one thing I do appreciate about Tepper. The man will spend to try to win. Being cheap hasn't been our issue.
    • I would LOVE to have the talent that Oakland and NY(Giants) have. They were/are WAAAAAY better rosters.  I think we will finally crawl out of that "worst" spot this season, even as a massive sceptic.  We need it.
