Cam Newton Blames JaMarcus Russell And Vince Young For The Disrespect He Gets

When someone gets into a scuffle to defend family after they tried their best to diffuse the situation, it tells you something about their character.

When someone has numerous resources around them to make them succeed, including mandatory tutors, and they turn in a paper they bought online, it also tells you something about their character.

I'll let you decide what conclusions to draw from those actions.

A couple "L" words come to mind to describe each.

Both cases were a long damn time ago. Let it go.

What names did the haters toss around when they threw names out before Cam proved them wrong?

Vince Young and JaMarcus Russell. End of discussion.

Anyone wants to make it about "black quarterbacks" needs to go ask the haters why those were the names they used when they said Cam would be a bust.

He's right, guys like Russell and Young give guys like Cam a bad name by helping to perpetuate the negative stereotypes about black quarterbacks.

Like I heard Stephen A. Smith say on ESPN this morning, black QB's have a responsibility to the people that came before them and went through hell to break down those stereotypes. Guys like Russell and Young come into the league and don't appreciate the opportunity that they've been given because guys like Warren Moon and Randall Cunningham cleared the path for them.

Indeed that would.

Could you tell me which imaginary person you are talking about that did this?

Stephen A is a dumbass. People who used what Vince and JaMarcus did or did not do to slam another kid are racist. Period. Those racist stereotypes existed long before those two played a down in the NFL. Ask Warren Moon. In 2-3 years the media will ask the next black QB to trash Cam if he struggles. Its just a lame way to justify ignorance and bias. Nobody tells Luck or Dalton to live down Joey Harrington or JP Losman. There are far more failed white QBs in this leagues history, but being white means youre judged as an individual and not by the lowest common denominator in your race.

Good point, and it really goes to what Cam is saying, which is what Stephen A was talking about... In an era where we're still expecting black QB's to fail more then we're expecting them to succeed, guys like Russell and Young make things hard on other black QB's that come into the league because they help perpetuate the negative stereotypes about black QB's that guys like Moon fought so hard to break down.

I agree that the automatic comparison to Russell and Young is by definition racist, because beyond the color of his skin Cam has very little in common with either of those guys both as a person and a football prospect.

And you know all of that is a fact how?

What does spending several hours a week trolling a message board tell us about someone's character?

Cam Newton Shouldn't Give Racist Critics A Free Pass

http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2011/12/29/2668443/cam-newton-carolina-panthers-racism-2011?sct=nfl_bf3_a4

Go back and find what gave so many pause about such a spectacular and accomplished talent. You'll find much of it was built on one thing: nothing at all. And as long as people purport themselves as experts, they must explain being that wrong in such a familiar, problematic way. If mentally slow with a poor work ethic sounded racist in the past, someone needs to explain why baselessly saying the same in 2011 was somehow different.

But instead, Cam blames that on Jamarcus Russell and Vince Young

Of course not all critics are motivated by race. Still, those that had Gabbart ranked higher than Newton...were either racist, or extremely stupid.

If cam was buying papers online it was because of two reasons: he was fuging bitches; or practicing football. Neither of which i can blame him for and id say a good use of that stolen laptop.

Game on ace boogie

What I find so hypocritical about folks like TRD is how righteous they pretend to be when they are arguing against someone they can't stand.

Cheating and swapping papers is part of the college culture no matter how much the Professors swear against it. Especially when it comes to term papers.

I chose to go back to college at my age. And althought I'm not tempted to cheat by having someone do my term papers, I can see how an 18 year can be easily swayed and get caught up in that mentality. So, If that is what Cam did I'd say it's not right, but it shouldn't be treated as if it's the end of the world the way hyprocrits like TRD is treating it.

But those who have "eyes" can see what TRD's real problem with Cam is.

TRD wants you to believe that the Andrew Lucks of the world never buy term papers or cheat. Just the Cam Newton of the world.

lol

Luck is the dude people are trying to buy papers from.

I'm not saying it's the end of the world, but it gives credibility to the "lazy" label he got. The only reason to not succeed academically in that environment is you are lazy. He didn't even copy a paper, but bought one and turned that in. If that doesn't scream lazy, I don't know what does.

He's moved past it and is looking like the best pick in the draft in a long, long time but let's not pretend people didn't have reasons to worry about him pre flop. Let's not let what we know now change what the facts were then.
