Free Agency 2012

All these draft threads are making me sick. So let's talk about players with experience. I just looked, and even though the Giants probably will not let him walk (unless he is unrestricted, of course I don't know if they can slap the tag on him in this case), Terell Thomas will be a free agent this year. After coming off an ACL injury this year, he would probably sign a one year deal with his next team.

Carlos Rogers will demand big money, as well as Brent Grimes. Terrell Thomas looks to be the best corner out there who wouldn't demand this kind of money right away. We get him, we can focus on other needs on the d-line. Yet as I said, the Giants would probably re-sign him unless he has some say so about that.

we are effectively over the cap entering the offseason

we're going to have to make some cuts/restructures just to be able to sign our own draft picks

then some more just to resign our own mediocre free agents

if the guy wants more than the league minimum chances are we're not signing him

might as well make a thread about how we should draft kalil at 8th/9th overall

lol don't challenge matthias to somehow bridge this discussion with a way to get Kalil

"hey guys it's Matthias with another fantastic mock draft. In this one let's trade Wharton, Greg Hardy (again) and Chris Gamble along with our 1st round pick to Minnesota and draft Matt Kalil. This way we clear cap space to sign Mario Williams"

    • That makes me wonder, how many starting tackles in the NFL and/or elite tackles have short arms? I feel like there’s probably lots of tackles that end up being drafted in later rounds because they had short arms or didn’t have the physical tools.     also why not draft a tackle in the later rounds that we could move to guard or center if they fail, instead of drafting a center? If we draft a center we know they aren’t going to play tackle but if you draft a tackle they could end up playing any of the 3 positions, look at BC for example. It feels like it’s a better decision to draft a tackle in later rounds than a center.
    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
