Was Walter Payton the best running back in NFL history??

Faulk was amazing...

I think everyone loved Bo...he was the Mike Tyson of football. His dominance in Super Tecmo Bowl helped his popularity as well.

One question...why is Payton not on your list? He wasn't before your time was he?

He was just before my time and my dad never really watched sports. So I was still too busy fishing and riding bikes in FL to care about football then...not a bad life

I didnt see Marshall Faulk on anybodys list...

My hero as a kid...Bo Jackson

Of the RB's I've watched my rank would be Sanders, Faulk, LT, Edge, Thurman Thomas, Smith, Terrel Davis, Bettis, Watters, Martin

(Yes I am probably leaving a bunch out)

Faulk is on my original post as a RB that I would take over Payton.

U got a pretty good list though and I would take many of those RBs over Payton as well.

Ricky Watters very under rated rb

Ricky "Running" Waters was a bad man but it still sticks with me when he alligator armed a pass over the middle with the Eagles and said "For Who? For What?" when asked why he didn't try to catch it. I am of course biased because it was with my team though. He was very good for them overall though.

I've said the I love the fact that WP was an outstanding human being...there's an award named after him, right?

He was also an outstanding football player.

The most rushing touchdowns he's ever scored in a season is 14.

Cam Newton scored that many this season.

And I also believe he was apart of the greatest team in the history of the NFL.

/not TRDing

It's silly to compare stats from that era to this era. The offenses are so much more protected now and the defenses were so much more ferocious and able to get away with more then.

I do agree that he was part of the greatest team in the history of the NFL, though. Fug the 72 Dolphins. :D
