Fixing a Massive Hole in Drywall

Well, one of my friends had a few too many drinks the other night and ended up tossing another one of my inebriated friends through a wall in my house at school. The hole is probably a foot wide and a few feet tall, and resembles a body to some extent. I just want to put a Cam FatHead over the hole but that won't suffice for my landlord or my roommates I have a feeling ;)

What are my options?

update.

Don't use a box cutter, go buy a keyhole saw from a building supply store for a couple dollars. It's so much easier to use, or if you have access to a sawz-all use that. Cut the drywall out to the center of the closest studs past the hole and replace. Mud the seems...TWICE, sand, paint.

If you want any chance of getting your deposit back I would have your "friend" who did the tossing pay for a professional to come fix it. If you have never done it before, I wouldn't recommend taking on the task. Putting up drywall for the first time is kind of like having sex for the first time. It most likely won't turn out as you planned.

My friends won't pay for it. There was already a little hole there and they just made it 10x worse and will refuse to do so.

I'm leaning towards hiring someone to fix it, a professional. How much would this run me?

Not much, as long as you don't let yourself get ass raped, you should be able to find someone to do it for around 100bucks plus materials.

    • Brandt's comment about Wharton was from his KC perspective when Wharton was a UDFA rookie.   "it goes back to the anecdote that Brandt Tillis had when he was in Kansas City. And it would be so easy to just cut Turk Wharton in 2020 when he was an undrafted rookie from a division two college in Missouri. It would been so easy to cut him because then he would have cleared waivers easily. No one knew this guy. They didn't have any joint practices, didn't have a preseason. Would have been so easy to cut him and bring him back on the practice squad and let him continue to build from there. And Brandt essentially said, "No, he's got to make the 53man roster if we're going to have any sort sense of credibility with this team."
    • Plenty of us were scratching our heads about that signing at the time. Especially with our 3-4 defense. Wharton is kind of a one trick pony situational five tech DT. He doesn't have the beef to hold up against the run and he doesn't have the juice to shift outside. He's basically a situational pass rusher DT. If we paid him $40M+ and he can't start for a historically inept defense then holy poo...
    • Agreed.  300 and 2 or 3 total in Jacksonville in a winning effort would sure be a nice start.
