WOW.. I wonder what JOAT's thoughts are on this? I know Kirkpatrick was his favorite prospect. I personally, don't want him anymore.. anyone that dumb to get busted between declaring and the actual draft doesn't deserve a Top 10 pick. Besides, I doubt JR puts his stamp of approval on him.

*Goes to scout 2nd round CB prospects*

How ironic is that? One pot smoker jumps another.

Have always thought Janoris was better, Dre has a bigger upside.

dre's more of a zone CB. talk about making him a FS makes sense in that regard. i'd be more willing to take him that way if he fell far enough.

i think that jenkins has done better agianst the better WRs coming out of the SEC, fwiw.

Jenkins isn't going to pass up Kirkpatrick over this.

Jenkins has bigger issues than getting blazed.

Besides this one incident Kirkpatrick has been a model citizen and a leader on Alabama's defense.

this was a statement that he made to the whole NFL that when it matters most, i'm still going to burn one.

Every pro scouting report I have read on him says he has almost exclusively played man in college bc of his long arms and exceptional strength for a cb he does really well in press coverage, bit he was knocked too.much for giving up the inside to recievers.

Dre to me is better fit for zone because of the skills he possesses. He is good in tackling in open space, he is aggressive in run support and he is athletic. The one thing that I am not sold him is his coverage skills. That's why people say he is a zone CB because his skills are conducive to that.

I personally don't feel it'll affect him that much either. But, what issues do you see with Jenkins? You can't think that Dre is a better pure cover corner than Jenkins.

I will say I like the potential of Dre better

He doesn't fit our scheme anyway, we play a lot of man and he's a zone CB.

Do you realize that we are an zone blitzing defense? The vast majority of our plays were in zone.

Dre Kirkpatrick is a bumb n run man corner. Yes he has skills to play zone, but that was not his forte. A lot of you have it backwards, and it's a little perplexing to me.

    • I don't see it as drafting a premium player to sit and wait if Walker gets hurt. We need a legitimate swing T. Unless you have a Sewell or Slater type tackle that is pretty much a sure thing, these guys can need some time to develop year 1 just like a QB ideally should. They all haven't played the elite 5 star talent on the edge. If we think another franchise tackle has dropped to us at 19, you have to pull the trigger. The position is just too damn hard to find. If it's just a "we need a tackle and this guy has a T on the board", yeah, move on, take one in the later rounds. But if that guy is there, let him back up and learn a year, then slide him into LT on year 2 of his rookie deal.  I don't see us being able to offer Walker a multi year contract after a prove it year, pay Moton his final almost fully guaranteed year, Hunt, Lewis a center and do a 50-60m extension for Bryce. The 3 most important positions on the field are QB, blindside tackle (usually LT), and edge rusher. Those are the premium positions that cost the most and are hardest to come by. If a starting caliber talent is there at 19 you have to pull the trigger.  I understand the need for a DT and S. I've been on the C and FS train for years. If we weren't staring at a potential Bryce extension, it'd make the decision a lot easier I think. It's just with all these huge contracts I don't see how we can hedge our bets on being able or even wanting to re-sign Walker, especially if he has a bad year. Icky and BC's injuries really hurt our long term plans.  If no blue chip talent at those 3 key positions are available at 19, by all means pass and draft another position. But I think it's pretty safe to say we don't have a guaranteed lock at any of them right now beyond Phillips, and they have to be somewhat of a priority.
    • Not completely accurate. I'm sure Roy is lobbying for him and Larry Brown has spoke put in support too. But Hansbrough has made comments pretty critical and hinting at a need for change. Joel Berry has gone a step further and said the standard has not been met. Scott Williams who was a teammate of Hubert's at Carolina has gone all the way and said it's time for a change at head coach.
    • 4.25 according to the ACC network broadcast. If only this guy was a couple years younger but he’s still a dawg.
