RadioKiller's 3rd Mock Draft

I'm too lazy to actually research the tweener bust rate, but off the top of my head the only successful tweeners from recent drafts were Orakpo and Aldon Smith and they both play OLB in a 3-4. We don't play a 3-4, so in our system those two could very well have been busts too.

Busts include Vernon Gholston, Everette Brown, Brandon Graham (so far), Jerry Hughes, Sergio Kindle (so far, and due to injuries, dunno how he'd have played without the injuries), Larry English.

That's about the only proof possibly when discussing opinions.

Ingram has more talent in his under leg fat (if he has any) than Brown or Norwood have in their entire bodies. There are a lot of great 3-4 LBs in this league, and anyone who looks exclusively at a second round and fourth round pick as the reason for not drafting one is misguided. Ingram also has natural pass rushing ability in 4-3 alignments (more than Brown has now.)

I'd be ecstatic if the draft worked out this way, but I'm not sure Ingram will be there at 17, especially after the combine.

He's vastly more talented than both Brown & Norwood.

Someone might also take Jenkins before 21. Possible.

If we somehow managed to land Ingram, Jenkins, & Martin, I think I'd die from excitement. All very good players that I'd love to see on the Panthers.

There sure are, and guess what? They play for 3-4 teams. Which we are not. So we shouldn't draft anyone in that mold. No one is arguing against Ingram, I'm arguing against Perry or Mercilus or Jarvis Jones or any of those other guys that are 6'1 to 6'4 and 245-265 lbs with a "DE" beside their name. We need guys that are good at OLB and guys that are good at DE, not guys that are ok at best at both.

Love the Jenkins pick, despise the Ingram pick. First off, the only way Cincy makes tgat trade is if Trent Richardson is available, which he won't be at 8 or 9. Why take Ingram when there is a great chance Still or Brockers one is available at 17? DT is our biggest need and we don't need to wait till the 5th round to address that. That trade wouldn't happen in a million years though.

The same reason that you don't think Cincy will trade up is the same reason I didn't select Brockers or Still. I didn't think they'd be there. Trent can fall, RB normally aren't picked that high.

So let's say that trade goes through and both of those DTs are gone, who would you target? Don't discount Ingram just because you think Still or Brockers would be a better fit. I do as well, just didn't think they'd be there.

There would still be better options, I would rather have Whitney Mercilus ANY DAY over Ingram.

What do you not like about Ingram, that Mercilus would bring you? Mercilus's length is better but Ingram is a better prospect. He just seems to be around the ball more on passing and running plays.
