So I recently moved to the outskirts of Greensboro and I put in a move request, and I was notified by the installer I did not get a good enough signal to continue my service. Now I have to go back to shitty time warner, fml.

how do you not have good enough signal? it comes from a satellite in space, unless there is a tree or something in the way it should not matter, unless you are so remote that they think it will cost more to install then your subscription is worth to them.

pretty much everyone that I know that uses Satellite uses it because they don't get cable because they are too far out for cable.

Where I live now I have many trees, very close to my house. All I know is that the installer said there wasn't a 'strong' enough signal. Unless he didn't know what he was talking about................

I have DirecTV, but there's no way I would cut down trees to get a better signal. The first guy they sent out mentioned that this beatiful oak I have in my front yard needed to go. We're talking about a 150 ft, 100 year old tree. I politely informed him that wasn't an option.

Unless your yard is completely draped in trees, they can put it away from the house in an area with a small opening and make a small trech back to the house.

The dish needs to point south west, it is 238* up here in VaBeach and surrounding areas. The actual degrees may vary slightly, but it will still be SW. As long as you can find a clear shot in that direction you should get good signal. If you can get a tree company to top a few choice trees near you, that will probably be the best solution. Or, get yourself a chainsaw, some climbing spikes and a 12pack for the most cost-effective method...

If you can find the clear shot away from the house, save yourself some money and put the pole out there yourself. Trench back to the house, use RG6 quad-shield, you should only need 1 run with the new SWM modules, or go old school and run 4 lines. The cables do not need to be buried deep, just not 'susceptible to damage', if you want to put PVC in the trench that'll make things easier...

They do have the tools to check signal before installation, and are advised to not do the installation if the can not get a good enough signal. Especially with the newer dishes that are catching signal from 5 satellites, mediocre is not good enough, nahmean? I would absolutely get a 2nd opinion, especially if thats what you want. I believe the Verizon FiOS can get you dishless DirecTV. They used to, but dont know if that or the FiOS is available to you...

    • Bryce has been playing the best ball of his career the last three games IMO. He wasn't the reason we dropped the game in NOLA. Seattle's defense will be his toughest challenge yet this season
    • I'll be at the game Sunday and up until last year I had a perfect attendance record. Now however I have seen us lose to the Chiefs (last year) and the Bills (this year). So we can no longer rely solely on my ability to pound overpriced beers to propel us to a win.
    • I haven't been able to watch Seattle on a dedicated basis but the Seahawks are a much better team by the all accounts: eye test, record and DVOA. Defensively they are sick. Best DVOA in the league first in rushing and second in passing. Offensively their passing game has been on fire this year led by JSN I can easily see this being like the Buffalo game where things just get out of hand for us early, that being said this league really is week to week and Seattle does have the disadvantage of traveling cross country for an early game.  If and big if, the Panthers are able to effectively run the ball and limit the amount of time Seattle's offense has to generate explosive plays we have a path to winning this game.  Seattle fans won't be happy to hear this but bad Darnold is always lurking in the background. He is truly an enigma to root for bc he will have an incredible throw that only a few people can make but then will turn around and throw the most bone headed pick of all time.  I think ultimately we drop this one as ultimately it's human nature to be looking forward to that week 18 game. But man how special would it be to be leaving the stadium on Sunday with a win and a miracle dolphins upset
