Forbes: Most Disliked Athletes 2012

I don't know who Kris Humphries is and really don't care, but I am concerned that there is but one white guy on this list who doesn't run, jump, or throw and is considered an athlete.

From Merriam Webster:

"..a person who is trained in or good at sports, games, or exercises that require physical skill and strength."

So, I guess in that sense I have to consider Kurt Busch an athlete. But I'll never consider NASCAR a "sport."

I am sure NASCAR is very upset about that. :)

As Hemingway said, the only true sports are bullfighting, mountain climbing, and auto racing. Everything else is just a game.

I understand the hate for Vick, Suh, Bron Bron, Kobe and A-Rod. I don't follow NASCAR enough to know why they hate Busch. But why the hate for Tiger he didn't do anything to hurt anyone other than his wife he cheated on her which sucks but thousands of people do and they're not hated. Plaxico I feel bad for, you shoot yourself and you end up on the most hated list. Humphries he's just a poor sap who got taken advantage of.

U got sports such as soccer and football and then you have blood sports where loss of life chances are much higher....I.e., auto racing, bullfighting, etc. Romans had it right about defining a sport. All of it has its place. Now golf is the oddball.....no physical exertions or loss of life chances. Golf is truly just a game

Race car drivers are every bit the athletes that golfers are. I'm kinda surprised they picked Kurt over Kyle though.

Same thing I was thinking... I am a Kyle fan and have been to a few races... and let me tell you, that guy is ver polarizing with very few liking him... Kurt isn't liked either but people don't really care or say as much about Kurt.

I don't know how Tiger is a top that list.... In all honesty most times tiger is on tv, people are rooting for him... they want tiger to win and get back to his old self... Now people like A-Rod, James, Kyle, Vick and TO people dislike and love to watch them fail... they are the ones really disliked ones by the fans. I will also throw brady up there.

Plaxico is a little surprising to me to because the got shot himself, did the time, and well, no one really cares about him to even dislike him.

Just my opinion.

    • He makes a good point about Wallace.  In fairness to Wallace it is hard to play your position as freely as you need to when your defensive line is getting pushed around like ragdolls.  One of the greatest attributes a defensive line has is sucking up blocks, freeing up your linebackers.  Our defensive line couldn't suck up a lollipop more or less blocks.  I think Evans, Sanders and Tremble are going to be a really nice TE group.  I can see all three getting time on the field.  If Sanders can improve as a blocker teams won't be so inclined to believe it is a pass play whenever Sanders is on the field.  Ryan Fitzgerald, I think was an awesome pick-up. Hopefully he can fill our kicker void. Luke Kandra many turn out to be our next Norwell.  Everything I have heard about him says he's a beast.  He needs some refinement, but the good news is he's got Hunt and Lewis (arguably the best guard tandem in the league) to learn from.
    • Great teams build through the draft and have several young players that start that are on rookie contracts. It's important to hit on players in rounds 4 thru 7.  These should be future starters and solid depth.  When you hit on most of your picks you free up a lot of cap space for those one- or two-year players to fill spots you are thin at. No GM is going to perfect on all their picks.  You're going to whiff every once in a while.  That was Hurney problem.  He'd nail the first pick but after that it was reach after reach and we couldn't get any depth on this team. I'm excited about Morgan as our GM and hopefully he'll be around a long time.  It will be even better if Canales can continue to grow as a head coach, both in the development of young players and play calling. I remember last season after Young came back in the lineup and started to perform well.  We saw different plays I had only seen other teams use.   If Canales's play design and play calling continue to grow. Morgan and Canales will be linked together for a long time.  It would be nice to see a Coach and GM together for a decade or two. Go Panthers
    • They also came out for the encore and the singers were dressed in canes jerseys. Pretty fuging cool.
