@Philly, but a lot of the guys being released aren't bad players. Either teams are having to clear cap space or the players had injuries in a lot of cases.

Stephen Davis came to us in the same manner.

Plug and play guys like Terry Cousins, Brenston Buckner, etc. come to mind.

With the way this defense looked last year, we don't need pro bowlers... average players would make us exponentially better across the board.

I think we learned from last year that trying to count on only draft picks for depth leaves us reeling at some point. it is nice to have veterans being able to step up and play when their name is called. i don't think any FA we will sign will expected to be a keystone on the team but to stabilize the foundation.
