Delhomme has new deal

Nah he will play this year the team will realise the mistake they made and cut him next year.

No chance, Jake is here forever! He is the next Favre. The closest he comes to leaving is to say he's retiring but then shows up at TC anyway.

God I hope so R & R!11!!!1! Imma stop rooting for the Panthers when he is gone!!1!1111:rolleyes:

Don't worry the FO has pledged their allegiance to Jake. This is not some cap move because of the Peppers situation. Not at all. He is here till he dies.

I saw the misleading stat provided by Slurper Darin Gantt earlier in the thread and I wanted to show you all just how misleading it is.

Is it REALLY that impressive that only Manning, Brady, McNabb, and Roethlisberger have more wins than Delhomme since Delhomme became a full-time starter? Um, no, not really.

Here are the list of current starting quarterbacks that have even been starting since 2003:

Manning

McNabb

Brady

Kerry Collins

Drew Brees

Marc Bulger

Matt Hasselbeck

Kurt Warner

You could also throw Pennington and Culpepper in there, but they've missed LOTS of games in several years due to injury or even retirement in Culpepper's case.

So....Jake has less wins than three of them (and less than Roethlisberger who didn't even become a starter until '04) and has more than five of them.

Is having more wins than 55% of the other eligible quarterbacks *really* something that's that impressive?

 You really think he will play his whole contract. If he does this front office is really messed up. Honestly Jake didnt look that great last year.

No I don't, like I said I was a bit surprised it was that long of a deal and just looking at what we know now which the $$ and years it's probably more than I would have done.

He wasn't great, I agree. He was good sometimes, was good enough sometimes and had some crappy games. There are QBs who were worse and some that were better. He was a QB coming off unprecedented arm surgery. I expect he will be better this coming year. The uncertainty and the fact that at 34 I wouldn't expect him to have more than 3 years as a starter is why I didn't expect such a long deal with that kind of guarantee.

You can put Jake in with Roethlisberger, Jake's missed 16 games in the last 3 years. Say that year he missed is an average one at 8-8, where does that put him on the list?

Honestly I would have to agree. Hopefully he wasnt fully recovered from surgery last year and will be better. I hope that his contract is set up with starting pay this year and next then backup pay the rest of the years.

yeah but how many of those games did Jake win for us? And how many did Smitty and our D win for us? JW

Jake doesn't "WIN" any games for them...it's a team game.

If your QB is respected in the LR and the team believes in him and he has shown the ability to help make the team better and usually delivers in crunch time, then he should be the QB...pretty stats or not.

Or do you think Jeff Fisher was wrong to bench Young for Collins last year also?

Just accept it guys, Jake is going nowhere. He's our starter for the next 5 years. After that we'll probably extend him for another 5 years. We'll get him out on the field in one of those old person scooter things if we have to. He got us to the superbowl in 2003 and he'll get us there again! We're not giving up on you Jake!

Those things work in the Grand Canyon, ya know...

But you dont bench your starting QB!

Hoepfully they will still have a QB competion this year in TC.

That still wouldn't be a fair comparison carpanfan because some of the others on the list have missed roughly as much time due to injuries as Jake.

That was the point bud...

They had all missed games, probably evened itself out and he had more wins that the other five. Pretty simiple stuff really.

    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
    • Certainly not going to miss his constant whiffs on sacks and tackles.
