If anyone judges a tight end on anything other than blocking in Fox's scheme then they need to go back and look at how Foxy used the tight ends.

Fox never had a tight end reach 500 yards receiving in his tenure with Carolina. Rivera's first year sees Greg Olsen reaching the 500 yard mark.

You can't judge Barnidge on his past performances in years past when he rarely saw plays directed toward him.

Michael Gaines was a Fox TE and he did less than poo after he left us. It's not like every TE we had was just an all pro that wasn't utilized. They purposely brought in marginal talent at that position.

Just because he didn't play much or get the ball in Fox's system doesn't mean he will be automatically be good in the Panthers current system. He really hasn't shown anything that makes me think he would be in Shockey's league. Maybe it is possible, but I wouldn't be counting on it.
