Riley Reiff interviewed by our Line Coach

Lt Pinkerton

Recommended Posts

Riley Reiff (OT out of Iowa) was eating dinner with one of the Panther's brass last night at my restaurant. I didn't overhear much but he sounded like a smart guy and they were talking football pretty much the entire time. Talked about how he played only the option at high school but then met with a private coach to learn pass-blocking and then excelled at Iowa. It seemed like overall a casual first interview, but it seems like the panthers are definitely interested in him at #9.

Take that for what you will

if it was only the/an OL coach eating out with him, i'm not sure there's a whole lot of interest there. i wouldn't doubt that they'd be some but for guys they are really interested in usually there would be more of the coaching staff there, i guess.

I know I am in the minority here but I would not hate it if we got a Reiff or Decastro.

Decastro is supposed to be Steve Hutchinson reincarnate and Reiff a better prospect than Jordan Gross. Possible move to RT if Otah isnt fixed.

Jason Brown at another guard spot and the line is wayy better from last season!

But about that defense...

Agreed.... just have to shore up that defensive backfield.

    • I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.
    • Where do we get our T-shirts and hats? Pretty sure this is the first championship ever in professional basketball or football in Charlotte!
    • Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
