Pretty much any thread that has the following statements: I think that...., Why can't people......, I know that.....) are going to go badly.

The other ones that usually lead to purgatory:

1.Salary Cap whiners. Either side.

2.Linked Article having anything to do with Cam Newton or saying anyone is better than Cam Newton.

3. ESPN(skip bayless, Cowherd or any other talking head)

4.Any other team troll (Saint J, Lonebucfan, TRD :) )

5. FA acquisition

Little fun fact from the NFLN earlier:

The top five spending teams from FA last year all made the playoffs.

Now nobody here is suggesting we spend a bunch, but I thought it was interesting because the same dumb people keep going "lolololol The Eagles brah! The Eagles!!" as if teams that aren't afraid to commit finances to outside talent don't see improvement.

That's interesting. Did they list who they were and the order? Just curious.

With all our signings, I'm surprised we didn't crack the top 5. Was it just signing other team's FA's? Also surprised the Eagles weren't in the top 5.

That's what I was about to say. Who spent more than us and the eagles in last year FA period?

did it differentiate between teams that signed other teams' disgruntled free agents and teams that signed their own big-name free agents?

charles johnson was roundly considered the marquee free-agent player available. we wooed him away from atlanta and other teams trying to contend for him.

ryan kalil is among the top three centers in the league in terms of talent and production. he was touted as a top offensive line candidate that could put a team like the bears over the edge. but we offered him a contract he couldn't resist and he signed with us instead.

same with deangelo williams. and then we went out and picked up ron edwards in free agency. he was considered one of the best defensive tackles available, started for kansas city for years without missing a start. their fans were incredibly pissed that he got away; this was considered a major coup for the panthers.

then we went out and made a trade for greg olsen, which is another something we don't do very often.

oh and shockey. don't forget shockey.

"we don't sign free agents" is a myth.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
