Panthers Agree With Tolbert On 4 Year Deal

Ok let's not predict who on the current roster will get cut, like I was doing, since we don't know who we will sign in the future. Let me go into the future with my time machine real quick and find out who we will sign, then i will be right back to tell you who we will cut.

wait... what? I was pointing out the fact that in an offense with such an emphasis on a pass-catching TE, we will be carrying more than 2 pass-catching TEs in case one goes down (like Barnidge did last season)... therefore, if Tolbert can play FB, no need for Brockel, and we still need another catching TE, so Hartstock may be gone to if we get can someone else

what about that brought about that bullshit time machine stuff?

Yup, Stewart might not want to come back here... might want to go somewhere that he can be the feature back. For all we know the Panthers offered him an extension already and he declined.

we actually do know that....Stewart has rejected talks. He wants to get paid. Can't blame him. He would be dumb to renegotiate now.

If Carolina won't pay him....he will walk.

I think before the draft. Are we going to have $20 million invested in a position (next year) that averages 21 carries a game? Silly, considering the team is starved at nearly every defensive position. Are we going to watch Stew walk away like Connor, who should have been dealt last year? I see this team developing into RR's image, and Hurney is going to have to step aside a bit.

If you think this was Hurney's idea, you're crazy. This is a Chud play, seconded by Rivera/Hurney. It certainly puts us in position late in a game with a lead to run the clock out . Sometime the best defense is a better offense.

Believe this just solidifies the fact that J Stew isn't going to re-sign with the Panthers. I do like Tolbert, but he is no Stewart...

It's not on Stewart. It is on the front office.

While the board has sung songs about how Double Trouble loves each other, loves us and will do whatever it takes to stay together........both just want to get paid and play in reality. Reality is when they opted to pay Williams they likely made it so the younger/better RB when the decision comes down....is forced to walk away.

Totally agree on all points. Shame really, as J-Stew has all the makings of a number one guy.

yeah, pretty sure Chud ain't callin the shots right now w/ Hurney and Rivera just supporting his wishes. This is Hurney addressing the backfield clusterpoo he created when he gave Williams that dumb deal w/ younger Stewart on the roster. Its called insurance for when what all knew would happen after this year.....happens.

Stew has always seemed happy with the Panthers but he's got an ego like every other player. He could easily go to another team and be a feature back. I hope this doesn't end up like the Peppers situation where we never got fair compensation. Better to trade him now and get value.

    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
