Bill Parcells To Coach Saints In 2012?

CRA

Parcells is best coming in and building a team, not keeping it going or progressing to the next level. Besides it would be like Fox in 2010, he would be a lame duck coach with no power or authority. Players would know he is a once and done coach. it would be bad all around.

some people may bring up the respect factor that this guy will bring into the lockerroom...but how many of these players were actually paying attention to pro football when he was truly relevant?

unless it's an old team, parcells is just an old guy that they are "supposed" to respect, but why will be a bit of a question mark.

parcells would be the figurehead...nothing more.

i think this new addition to the coaching staff, this shawn slayton fellow, seems like he will be doing a lot of the work.

i posted this in another thread, btw...

In the wake of the NFL's Bountygate sanctions yesterday, most notably the full season suspension of head coach Sean Payton, the Saints announced today that they've hired an interim coach from outside the organization to lead the team during the 2012 season. That man is unknown coach Shawn Slayton, whose entire background both on and off the field is a complete mystery.

Naturally, it was ESPN analyst Adam Schefter who had the scoop first and broke the story via his Twitter account:

Little is known about Slayton's background but sources within the Saints organization, speaking on grounds of anonymity, claim he's an offensive minded genius with a play calling prowess rivaling that of the man he's been hired to replace. Other than that and looking eerily alike, however, the two coaches are as different as their obvious facial hair preferences, acknowledged the source:

and no...this is not from the onion (even though it is satire lol)

Why? He's not going to be there long term and will have respect from the players and coaches.

It's just an all around awkward and dramatic way to deal with the already awkward drama that is there. It would bring even more attention to every single thing that happens there when they should just want to do everything they can to keep the media away.

It seems like a huge distraction, huge.

Then he's a strong willed person and yet he has to act like it's not really his team but at the same time be effective. I would have thought they would just promote an older low key guy from the staff. Now they will have to do the Rooney rule interviews and all that crap.

Lol yall act like Parcells coached Red Grande. It wasn't that long ago he rebuilt the Dallas Cowboys. I'm sure many of the Saints remember playing against him.

How many playoff wins did he have with Dallas?? He last coached Dallas in 2006 and had a 34-32 record and no playoff wins. Sounds like a backwards step for the Saints.

So i say sign him up..............

Well thats just it. NO is in a tough spot no matter what they do. At least Parcells gives a known factor on the sidelines.

You could say that about a lot of coaches. cough [Rivera]

there's a difference.

rivera didn't walk away from the game for a couple years or take a desk job for a few years before that.

he's old school....right now, that means essentially irrelevant.
