More Rule Changes; All Turnovers Reviewed

It's a disappointment for fans that wanted a streamlined, faster replay process. Handling everything upstairs would speed up the process and allow the replay official in the booth to make faster decisions in a quiet, controlled environment. The referee has enough to worry about during the game. Why not give this most crucial part of his duties to someone solely focused on replays?

NFL owners passed some other key measures on Wednesday. The new overtime rules will now be a part of the regular season, not just the playoffs. All turnovers will automatically be reviewed, just like scoring plays.

That last measure is an improvement of the current replay process. It should help ensure the right call is made on the game's most crucial plays. Unfortunately, by rejecting the Bills' proposal, the league didn't go far enough in improving replay's efficiency and efficacy on Wednesday.

The rule that didn't pass was streamlining the 'under the hood' review to the replay booh. I think that would have been a good move

Like the automatic review of turnovers, they are key moments in the game so why not make sure you got it right without forcing coaches to challenge.

Sorry to hear they did not move the reviews upstairs... silly to make the ref on the field do it.

I like the way college does it, except for that the booth can challenge anything that looks questionable. If it were scoring and turnover replays happening upstairs and then giving the ref confirmation - that would be ideal. Totally agree.

    • Jake in his prime was a gutsy QB. But just like with even someone like Cam. Father time is undefeated. It's very unfortunate we have a guy who is only 24 years old that has an equivalent arm to that. Absolutely blows my mind that our brain trust lacked the basic common sense to value arm talent when making a massive trade with ramifications for years to come. Unforgivable incompetence.
    • Jake, to me, will always hold a special place in my heart.  I really feel like for his era, he deserved way more love than he got, and should’ve had more than his one Pro Bowl.  He was a gamer with an underrated rocket arm. but let me tell you, after his Tommy John surgery, when he came back, I can’t remember who it was against, but it think it was a division game, he threw a ball that was supposed to be a throw away, as I think he was under pressure, and that poo floated forever and died right at the boundary where a defender ran over and picked it off.  One of the worst throws I ever saw.  His arm just wasn’t the same after the injury and surgery.  All that to say, that’s what almost every Bryce throw to the sidelines looks like to me.
    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
