Before You Judge Campbell....

The raiders played him at RG in 2010 and played him at RT in 2011. So really, he has one year pro experience at RT.

Seems like that could have contributed to his not catching on very quickly.

Remember also we tried Gross at RT his 2nd year. Remember how that went? Some guys take a little while to adjust to a position change.

Didn't we flip flop Gross like 5 straight years?

03 right side to ease in as a rookie

04 left side as the future blind side protector

05 right side with Wharton starting at LT

06 Left side because Wharton tore an ACL, and then he ended up staying there

Am I remembering that right? Because if that's the case, we should give the guy a beer and a hug.

raiders have been terrible on the offensive line since 2007. do you point to players? coaching? drafting? is campbell a product of a poor system, or a poorly-scouted prospect who is keeping it poor?

given his measurables i'd bank on it being the former. no reason to think he can't come here and achieve a measure of success.

Could be...I know there were at least a couple of switches that never went well for Gross.

they have ran the ball pretty good in recent history. I think playcalling at times has been suspect setting the passing offense up for failure.

<quote=CRA>Charles Godfrey to Saftey.

Oh wait, people think that worked....</quote>

Charles Godfrey is a decent NFL safety who has suffered from poor defensive line play, cornerback play and the sudden regression of Sherrod Martin

Agreed...people that think the safety position is our problem are completely off. Its difficult to play safety when you have to play 10 yards off your mark because you know your corner is going to get beat after the QB has 10 seconds to throw the ball. That is why getting pressure is so important. It snowballs to the secondary when the DL sucks.

    • Have to stop making everything about BY. They will and have been bringing in players to improve the TEAM, not just Bryce Young. Which is something they should have done BEFORE bringing in a rookie QB. Even Metchie is a generally good pickup at a position of need. He just happens to have played with BY in college. And that doesn't hurt his chances or the team's. Morgan just addressed the biggest areas of need on the team via free agency so they won't be reaching for a position of need in the draft. He's legit picking the best player available for the TEAM in the draft. The o-line was in shambles in 2023. He addressed it in 2024. The d-line was in shambles in 2024. He addressed it in 2025. The pass rush and linebackers were in shambles in 2025. He's addressed it in 2026. Unfortunately good young WRs don't hit the FA market, so can't just throw money at them. You have to draft them. I wonder what some would be saying if they'd spent the amount of cap on the offense that they spent on the defense in 2025 and 2026 - and then used both first round draft picks on defense. Would that have been better in your eyes? No. You would be complaining that the defense is too young to compete and more vets weren't brought in because they're trying to prop up BY. This team should be talented enough now to make some noise in the South. If BY is actually holding them back, then QB will be addressed in 2027. They benched him 2 games into their tenure and you think they're tied to his success. No. That doesn't compute. They're tied to the team's success. BY could throw for 5000 yards and if they're 4 - 13, head's will roll.  TLDR: Their decisions aren't driven by making BY look good. They're trying to improve the team and win games. Period.
    • I still firmly believe that Tepper still has his mandate of make Bryce work or get fired and because of that, it doesn't matter how badly he does... He'll get a long term deal in the 40-50m range and set back this franchise for a decade. Then the Teppers will have another QB infatuation and maybe they get it right then.
