Jon Beason Says Poe Would "shore Up Position"

Can't blame a LB for wanting a blocker eater, but I don't think that's what we need. I think we need a game-changer/play-maker who can make plays on their own. I did not see a lot of creative blitzes with LBs last year, so IMO we need a guy who can penetrate on the DL, like Fletcher Cox.

I know we had a lot of injuries, but it really depends on what kind of D we will be running. If the pressur eis supposed to come from the LBs, then I could see us going with a guy like Brockers (1st) or Still, who may be there in the 2nd. If our DL is supposed to create the pressure, then we need a penetrator.

Fletcher can eat blocks as well.

It all depends on what kind of a player Ron Edwards will be. I haven't really watched him a lot so IDK if he's a space-eater or not but you need a space-eater at NT and hopefully someone who can penetrate at the other spot. Rignt now I think Fletcher Cox is the guy who is trending if we stay at that spot. I wouldn't be mad at the pick because I think he plays more violently than either Brockers or Coples (if we went DE).

The deciding factors for me to go with Coples (if Claiborne is gone and we can't trade down) are

A.He has rare size, speed, and versatility.

B. Jerel Worthy or maybe even Devon Still could be there when we pick in the 2nd round.

C. DE is a more valuable position that DT IMO...especially if that guy gives you the flexibility to move him inside on long passing situations (similar to what the Giants do with JPP, Tuck, and Osi).

I agree. Didn't mean he couldn't.

I see Cox as a different sort of player than Brockers, Poe or Still. I like Cox by far better than the rest & feel he is a better pick than Ingram or even Coples (Coples b/c of risk, big reward or a waste of a pick). I would take Cox in the 1st or deal with Still in the 2nd if necessary. Our 2nd rounder should be a CB or LB IMO tho.

Yeah, Worthy is a great player as well. Coples has amazing potential, but Hurney likes to make sure he does not miss in the 1st. To me, that would be a player more like Cox than Coples. Coples is the highlight pick, but I prefer not see the Panthers go in that directions due to his on-off history. Coaches may have changed at UNC, but amzaing players perform no matter the circumstances.

    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
    • Well, seeing as we play the Lions at home this year, pretty sure that rumor isn't true.
