As I look at some highlights of Coples. He has the motor and the fight in him to be great. It seems he demands double team alot of the time which would be good for Beason,TD, and Anderson. But I'm concern that Coples over play the run game a little to much. Instead his focus is mainly to get the QB instead playing the run first. But overall if Coples is the best choice at 9. I would draft him. Mainly because him and Charles Johnson would be a pair of Stud bookends. Something we ain't had since Peppers and Ruckers. I ain't got nothing agaist Hardy. But I feel Hardy is more of a Al Wallace type DE for us. He would be much better as a backup and come in on 3rd downs. OVerall if Claborne or Blackmon ain't at 9. I hope the panthers chose to go with Coples to be the starter on the otherside of Johnson.

I think they will pick Kuechly if they stay at 9, because he should be the best player on the board and the FO seems to love him.

I want them to pick Cox and I think there's a good chance that they will. I think he's the 2nd most likely prospect after Kuechly.

I don't want them to pick Ingram. He just doesn't fit in the 43.

So for those who voted "other," who do you want the pick to be? Jenkins? Reiff? DeCastro?

I'm trying to make this poll as realistic as possible and only include players who seem like they have better than a 50% chance of being on the board at nine which rules out guys like Blackmon (most likely) and Claiborne or any other of the elite prospects.

I think I want Gilmore right now. But I would want to trade down if we did. I guess Cox would be my next choice.

I think they will pick Poe

I want them to pick Kirkpatrick

I don't want them to pick Cox

Even with Rivera saying they want a week 1 starter at 9 and not a project?

Even if you love Poes potential (which I don't) he doesn't meet that criteria. He didn't dominate in CUSA....one training camp won't have him ready

Poe isn't the player that I want if you look at my second answer. It was who I think they will take and I posted this before I heard Rivera say anything.

    • He is also a player that has that "lock room cancer" tag.  We don't see much of the full picture, but I try to stay far away from that type of player. He is historically not good at losing, and we tend to do that a good bit. Not a good fit in my opinion.  I respect the skill, though.
    • I honestly can't think of a teams first line basically telling the coach to fug off like last night's line of Aho, Jarvis and Svechnikov did to Rod.
    • Do you even know what the term "below average" means? Because I'm genuinely not sure if you do. There are 32 QB's in the league, which means to be playing "above average" he'd have to be the 15th best QB at the league, and even then, that's in essence the "average NFL QB" still. Even going by these rankings, which have him 20th, that by itself is the definition of "below average", and that's before you consider there are multiple QB's ranked below him in this list that I'd 100% trade him for in a heartbeat. Again, no matter what you think the eye test tells you, he's made 28 starts and has a grand total of FOUR games over 247 yards.  Drake Maye has made 10 starts, all with a significantly worse group of pass catchers than Bryce has had, and he already has 3 games over that number himself. I don't need to see or know anything else beyond that to determine he is a below average QB in this league so far and I don't know how anyone can honestly argue against that.  If he was a Lamar Jackson type putting up 75+ yards rushing on a consistent basis, then you can look at those passing yards differently, but that's not the case here. Could he still improve and get to average or better?  Of course. But you're trying to extrapolate a few throws/drives/moments from a handful of games and trying to say that makes him even an average, if not above average, QB in this league.  Which is just nonsense when the players you're comparing him to have played at that level for full seasons or their entire careers.
