Your Personal Experience Meeting A Panther

That guy lying about playing Cam in Madden got me thinking. What was the coolest thing you've ever actually done with a pro athlete?

Darius Butler isn't a big name but he gave me free tickets to a Panthers game last season. I follow him on twitter and he had some extra tickets to the game. They ended up being lower level seats in the handicap row so we could get out to the bathroom and concessions very easily. I never met him but I thought it was cool of him.

That's my best attempt at proof since it's guilty until proven innocent.

The other cool Panther was Ricky Proehl at Spartanburg. This little boy wanted to meet Stephen Davis and he just walked off and the kid was crying. So Ricky chased down Stephen and made him come talk to the kid.

So if you've had a really good or really bad run in with a Panther post it here.

was driving through the upper peninsula of Michigan on route 2 and a giant black cat ran off into the woods from the side of the road - and of course, it was late, didn't have a camera, etc... panthers aren't supposed to be possible from mountain lions so maybe I was wrong about the color, but no way that thing was a house cat, way too big.

I was in South Park once, and I saw Jason Baker. He was in a store, and my sister and I were walking in the concourse. I said "that's Jason Baker" to my sister. As soon as I said it, he looked right at us.

I think he was just happy to be recognized.

my wife met mike rucker in the airport during the offseason and got his autograph for me.

The kicker? It was the chicago airport.

Worked out at the Y next to Smitty one time, but he had his headphones in so no one would talk to him.

    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
