Damn This Part Of The Offseason + Office Banter

They get us all excited with the schedule release, and then the draft... And then..... Nothing!

I've been sitting in my office this am which consists of about 10 guys who are all very "in the know" type guys, and we've been breaking down schedules and talking about additions that teams have made. Arguing amongst ourselves, and making the usual offseason predictions division by division... Everybody's juices are flowing now... And now we gotta fuggin wait... I could scream right now!

The conversation was going great until we started talking about our division. They all know how due hard of a Panthers fan I am... I heard their arguments. Some made sense, while some did not. My football analysis part of my brain says that we're probably another year away, but my homer side of my brain says that it can happen this year!

Then Cam came up. The talk of teams having a years worth of tape on him, sophomore slumps, and the lack of a "burner" WR... How can we agree on most everything we've been talking about and be so far off on the Panthers!? I pride myself in keeping an open mind and not talking crazy when I talk about our squad, but I really feel as though we can make a deep run this year!

I know that these kind of conversations are probably going on if offices accross the country, which leads me to this...

What's going on in your offices? What are people saying? Share some stories... What else do we have to do until TC?

The end result of their NFC South Division went like this:

Atlanta is the Team to beat, TB will be much improved, The Panthers will find ways to lose, and the Saibts will have to out score everybody to have a chance! Damn them all!!! I can't fuggin wait for the Panthers to clean house this coming season while I talk poo in the office week in and week out all season long!

I work with a Falcons, TENN, Raiders fans and a bunch of 49ers fans, so I hear all the hate on us all day long....

TENN fan will not leave me alone with the stomping they gave us, I bet him lunch that we will win and that we would keep CJ under a 100 yards.

Raiders fan thinks they going to win the the DIV and make it deep in the playoffs, LOL he claims this every year.

The Falcons fan believes they will win the DIV and make it to the big game, I bought him lunch twice last year, mothafugger, even invited him over for the 1st game vs noodle arm, I almost kicked him out of my house.......

The 49ers fans are pretty humble, happy to actually make the playoffs, they wish they had Cam, they always say, "could you imagine Cam on the 49ers with Harbaugh and our DEF", I say dream on. They still have no faith in Alex Smith, even with adding Moss and Manningham....... but they believe the will win the DIV again, I do agree.. But I can't see them putting up more than 10 wins next year....

    • I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.
    • I think most people like XL from a personal standpoint. I don't think he's stupid either. Although if we are being realistic he is lacking in football IQ at this point in time and it cannot be disputed that he has not taken working on his craft seriously at all times given the body of work on the field. It speaks for itself. I myself have defended him at times given the circumstances of our QB room. But he is now in his third year and 25 years old. We are not in a position as a franchise to go around babying anyone especially first round draft picks. He needs to take his position and his football career seriously or he is going to end up selling used cars somewhere. I hope he realizes this and takes an extended break from social media because that mess certainly isn't going to increase his net worth if he ends up out of the league. And these hanger on types will disappear quick too once that money dries up and it surely will eventually. We'll see how he responds.
