Former West Virginia QB Jarrett Brown

He's a guy I liked in the draft a couple of years ago that I was hoping we would pick up late. Instead we ended up with Tony Pike. Brown ended up with San Fran as an UDFA.

Has a cannon of an arm , pretty decent scramble ability, and good size at 6'3 225.

Some highlights here

Nice video....but whats the catch?

I just think with the evolving scrambling QB in the NFL, that someone would have picked him up by now???

He was in clevelands camp last year .

Honestly idk. Squirrel would know more than most of us I imagine about his downsides. But his upsides are his speed (4.54 at combine) , athletic ability , and arm strength.

I have heard some things about his decision making though I feel like that could be coachable. I'm honestly not sure why he hasn't found a place yet.

DA > Pickles > Brown

Anderson will be gone off to other things next year i think it's safe to say , and just about nobody in our fanbase wants to see pickles throw another football for the panthers. Unfair for him but I believe that to be a true statement. So at some point we need a capable backup with a skillset similar to Cam to keep the offense in tempo if he goes down. I think someone like brown is the type of person we would look for.

Found this out about him.... I wonder why he did not land anything with the teams below? Anyone know more about him?

San Francisco 49ers

After going undrafted in the 2010 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers signed Brown to a free agent contract.[32] He was re-signed to the practice squad, but the franchise released him on September 8 when it signed quarterback Troy Smith and moved Nate Davis to the practice squad. Later in September, Brown tried out with the Pittsburgh Steelers alongside quarterbacks Levi Brown and John David Booty in search of a replacement for the injured Dennis Dixon.[33]

Cleveland Browns

On December 21, 2010, Brown tried out for the Cleveland Browns. On January 6, 2011, he was signed by the Cleveland Browns. He competed for the third string quarterback job in the preseason. Brown was released by the Cleveland Browns on September 2, 2011, during final cuts. He was then signed to the Indianapolis Colts practice squad on November 29.

Carolina Panthers

In the spring of 2012, Jarrett Brown attended Carolina Panthers Rookie camp working for a chance to get signed.

This makes me wonder....anyway, I think he looks really good in those highlights, and hope he gets a shot!

It's not hard to put together all of a guys college highlights into one video on youtube. The sad truth is that his video of bad plays could be twice or 3 times as long. You can learn nothing from a youtube video. He has nowhere near the scramble ability as Cam. I can tell that just from that video. He isn't as fast or quick changing direction. There must be a reason why he can't even make it as someone's 3rd string QB.

    • I'm honestly looking beyond DC at this point. He's too green and is making too many simple mistakes. I think he's gone after next year. I think the intention in LV was to use Mayer and Bowers similar to Gronk/Hernandez in NE. That's never really struck me as Carroll's MO though after watching him for years out here in Seattle.  He's talented enough and I think he just got lost behind the phenom that is Bowers because he couldn't develop in Carroll's system. I'm surprised Bowers is used as much as he is, though they really don't have anyone else. TE's don't really exist as focus receivers in Carroll's offense. I live in the PNW so I've been subjected to a lot of Seahawks football.  Coaches other utilize their TEs. We should too. Tremble is OK, but he's always been a project as a receiver. Again, all this is of we could get him at the right price. I wouldn't pay a lot because we need to spend on defense.
    • David. Hey, money talks.....it has been acknowledged that Tepper isn't shy on spending. He's had the NFL equivalents of used car salesman after used car salesman line up to grift him of a big chunk. Canales is one of them.  Until that changes, it's gonna be tough to build anything to last.
    • Well it's who they tied themselves to for at least another year but i agree. They will be lucky to find a useful contributor but until I see the DC situation change I am presuming it's SSDD. Well it sounds like maybe in 2027.
