Comparing Lesean Mccoy's Contract To D-Will's

The stupidity is strong with this one.

DeAngelo avg 5.4ypc last season compared to 4.8ypc by LeSean.

There is more to judging RB play than looking at just ypc on a stat sheet. Why do you think PFF had him as the 40th ranked RB?

But i do agree calling him awful is retarded. McCoy was better RB though

The same reason they had Matt Moore & Alex Smith ranked ahead of Cam Newton. They're fugtards.

You guys don't realize how talented DeAngelo is. He will join Jim Brown next season as the only other RB in NFL history to avg 5ypc for his career with a minimum of 1000 carries.

And no CRA, it isn't pretty much the end. Guys like Marshall Faulk were washed up because they had 2000-3000 carries, not because of their age. DeAngelo doesn't have 1/2 as many carries as the players you are comparing him to.

Yeah, until proven otherwise....RBs tend to wash out at the 30 yr mark and simply arent the same player they use to be. Age is age regardless of carries and it impacts the vast majority.

There are always exceptions.

There are still some who think Williams is the same kid from 08 and will be that guy in 2012...I think that is just wishful fandom. That doesnt make him worthless just not a superstar

Splitting hairs. Alex Smith and Moore were asked to be something different. No biggie. Can argue those guys. The other 2 had good years.

Bigger gap between the RBs discussed last year. McCoy is more well rounded and it showed....so does his youth.

I think YPC is the best single stat to look at for a RB once they hit a certain threshold, like 100 or 150 carries or something. No single stat ever tells the whole story, just like the combination of every stat imaginable doesn't tell the whole story. But I think YPC is affected less by things like sharing the workload (there is obviously some effect in the form of fatigue lowering YPC for lone backs) than things like overall yards and TDs which are greatly affected when no one else is running the ball. I think they had him ranked 40th because his total yards and TDs weren't impressive at all. Because he was splitting carries in a more heavily pass oriented offense.

I'd say McCoy was the more productive back, because he was the only one running. He was the more important back to his team, because he was the only one running. He deserves to be paid more, because he's younger and more likely to maintain his level of play over the course of the whole contract. But if I had to choose between them in their prime, give me Deangelo any day. If I had to choose one of them for the next 2 or 3 years, I'd probably still take Deangelo. And that's with me putting homerism aside to the best of my ability.

Here's what I don't get...it is becomimg SOP to spout the latest PFF player rankings as indisputable proof of value. Whether we are talking about Cam, or DWill, or Captain, or the DT's or whoever.

Relying solely on PFF to make your argument is a lazy way out. If it were that easy, anyone with access to PFF could work in an NFL front office.

Are you saying LeSean McCoy is a more well-rounded RB than DeAngelo Williams because he averaged less yards per carry, averaged less yards per catch, averaged less touchdowns per touch, had more fumbles, & is the inferior pass blocker of the two?
