Panthers Pressure Point: Sean Mcdermott

Recommended Posts

McDermott is a great coordinator and I think along with Rivera focusing more on defense this season now that our offense is set, I think they'll be able to establish a playoff caliber defense if everyone stays healthy.

But if our defense is bottom 20 again, McDermott should be on his way out.

Where do you get that idea?

Because I saw what he did with Philadelphia's defense and his knowledge and style come from no other than all of fame defensive coordinator Joe Johnson.

Give the guy a chance you bunch of dumb dildos...Riveras tutelage will help....

I was about to make this point. Also, Rivera himself said he was going to be more hands on with the defense now. If McD doesn't pan out, I'm sure Rivera can handle the Defense himself if he chooses to do so, kinda like McCarthy does for the Packers on the Offensive side of the ball.

Jim Johnson. And what you saw was that defense go into the pooper when he took over.

My bad I don;t know why I said Joe. But his defense wasn't poo, McDermott was a head coach candidate I can't believe we got him as a Dco.

Cant wait to see Rivera/McDermott led defense kick ass with healthy playerz.

That's the way I look at it, the Rivera/McDermott D. RR was too busy last year getting acclimated to being a HC and making sure all went well with the Cam experiment. Now, HOPEFULLY, he and Mac can get down to brass tacks and pull this D together. Kuechley and Alexander cannot hurt and hopefully TD and Beast can stay on the field. Look at what SF did on D from 2010 to 2011. One year can be big if the pieces fit.

I agree that its unfair to evaluate McD after last season. New philiosophy/scheme, injuries et al. I don't think we can underestimate the important of bringing in Steve Wilks to coach the DBs. He's considered an up and coming defensive coach and I think he will make a valuable contribution as the pass defense coordinator.
