Rudy Gay?

There’s been talk that the Bobcats might be willing to move the No. 2 pick to Memphis in a package for small forward Rudy Gay, but according to sources, it’s just been talk. “It seems the rumors about Gay (being on the trading block) are true,” one source said. “And the Bobcats are one team that could take on his salary. But a trade would be complicated.” FOXSportsOhio

I dont know if i would like this, but he is locked up for years and is a proven player in the league so with our horrible draft history i would at least be interested. I just know that were more than 1 piece away from being a contender. He would bring a scoring threat like we have never had before, avg 20 ppg over his career and has the size and athleticism you want.

Thoughts?

I would do it, if we were to swap picks also.

At Memphis' no.25, players like a Tony Wroten PG/SG, Fab Melo C (legit 7'0"), Royce White PF or John Jenkins should be there.

Add one of these player with Rudy Gay and we would be better off by taking a rookie at no.2.

We do have the cap space to add Rudy Gay. An addition of a player like Rudy Gay would help trying to add other big names in free agency in the future.

Very intriguing deal for the Bobcats, though it does worry me that the Grizzlies seem to play better when Gay is hurt and out of their lineup. He is only 25 so he still has time to grow as a player, and he addresses the bobcats woeful scoring in a big way. I would still like more in a trade than just Gay, considering how much money they would save from his contract (3 yr/ $53 mil) to the 2nd pick

No thanks to Rudy Gay. We don't need to take on any huge contracts. Plus, like it was said above; the Cubbies play better ball with him on the bench. It's not worth taking on his contract if he's not going to be elite. Let's continue to build through the draft, and use our expirings and expanding free agent money to get something better. Plus, im still a lil salty about him when he made those comments about our squad to biyombo lol

Id try to make it a 3 team trade somehow. Im not an expert at the cap space or anything, but something like this would be a good start.

Charlotte gets - Rudy Gay, 10th overall pick, 25th overall pick

Memphis gets - #2 pick and Corey Maggette

New Orleans gets - DJ Augustin, future 2nd rd pick

10th pick - Kendall Marshall

25th pick- Royce White

31st pick- John Jenkins

Kemba/Marshall

Henderson/Jenkins

Gay/Williams

Mullens/White/Thomas

Biyombo/Diop

dj not under contract... cant trade him (and he isnt really good enough to warrant a sign/trade), Hornets are loking to move the 10th pick to drop okafor or ariza contract... so if we took okafor then we could possibly get that pick, but otherwise they are not trading that pick 10.

Hell no you get rid of Tyrus or Diop contract and then we amnesty Maggette. If we can get 2 out of these 4 guys (Diop, Tyrus, Maggette, Carroll) contracts off the books and pick up 2 new starters I'm happy.

I by no means have a problem with gays but I really would hate to hear "AND THE POINT IS GOOD BY GAY" "GAY WITH THE SCOREEEEE" "GAY IS ON FIRE TONIGHT" HESSS FLAMMIINGGG...

Take no offense to that if you are gay/lesbian I just don't know if I could keep a straight face every game.

    • Right and I think we can have a conversation about that. But even with the scheme he should still be able to muster more than 1.5 sacks right? I mean DJ Johnson played in Evero's scheme too but that didn't stop us from calling him a bust. Scourton didn't seem to have trouble flashing. There can be different things true at one time.
    • I assume you are quoting my still. If so, I don't know what your argument is since mine was simply showing a play where Bryce scored a TD against the Rams in the playoffs where another poster used a similar still of Herbert's line to defend his poor performance last night. Like I said, Herbert is a better QB but Bryce wins the game last night for the Chargers. It simply is something he does better than Herbert and would play to his strengths. Someone even said earlier Chargers only win 1 or 2 games this year if Bryce was their QB which is so absurdly laughable it wasn't even worth trying to address. I mean this thread is literally called "Bryce Young is the worst QB in Panther's History" so I understand there is no objective arguments to be had here but I found that amusing.
    • I think his knee would make a good reason to switch to guard IF he returns.  Half don't.  Half of those don't last too long.  The strain on a knee (320lb man) vs speed rushers is more substantial.  So I would keep him if I could on a small contract (he will make $17.5 in 2026 fully guaranteed) and think of him as a possible guard for the post Lewis/Hunt era.  Knee injuries in big men are not invitations to invest in them.
