Barnidge Apparently Not Injured

before kffl's utilization stats for 2009 expired i did research this and he did have games where he was targeted and didn't do anything. his pass catch rate as a matter of fact was nothing extraordinary. I know there's this gigantic misconception that he's hauled in every single one of Jake's 12 pass attempts to him for his career but it's far from the truth.

I'm not saying Barnidge will be good...but, do you remember those passes from Jake!? Noone could of caught most of those. They were way over thrown( or under) or thrown to the defender. Jake was horrible that year. You can't put it solely on Barnidge.

"BARNIDGE HAD TO JUMP INTO THE THIRD ROW TO CATCH THOSE PASSES"

Jake was awful in 2009, but he still was capable of throwing 3 on target passes for every 5 ducks. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

How many " on target balls" were thrown Barnidges way and how many "ducks"? I remember...looks for Smitty (maybe force it) then Moose...happy feet gets worse throw it up for grabs. Like I said IDK if the guy will be good, but he hasn't a lot a chances to do anything.

You can't make ANY educated or valid evaluation of a pass catching TE in Fox's offensive scheme. They just did not utilize the TE that way. Fix saw the TE as another OL for blocking.

I am not sure how he will be this season. But, let's wait to actually see him in a system that utilizes and values a pass catching TE that can work the seam.

He has the speed, hands, and athleticism that you want. Let's see if he can deliver in this system.

The ONLY time we saw him in this offense was ly training camp. And he looked very good and showed flashes of some great plays. I know it was only TC. But I would trust making an evaluation using TC in this system more than anything a TE did in Fox's system.

    • The pattern of what we've done before, during and after the trade and selection of Bryce points to Tepper being involved in his selection and continued presence as the unquestioned starter. Pickett sucked in Philly, he just didn't start. If he hadn't sucked, Pittsburg wouldn't have gotten rid of him as a 1st round QB. Grier is so bad we already cut him once. He offers zero upside. There were FA QBs available last season that we could have gotten over Dalton who actually outperformed Bryce. The bar is low, ridiculously low. But we keep adding people who have proven they are below that bar.  Bryce is a bottom tier QB. We should be actively looking to improve the roster. You can say virtually no QB3s and few QB2s could challenge Bryce. That's true. But it also means there may be some that can. We're not looking for those guys. We should be. They could definitely challenge a KP or Grier.  The goal is winning seasons and winning the division. Relying on the Falcons to win so you can get into the playoffs with a losing record in a weak division isn't a recipe for success.
    • Man oh man talk about getting it wrong coming And going. Have two viable arms and don’t stay the course so you draft a noodle arm that stands on his tippy toes to see, they make us go the full 5 years waiting for him to pan out.
    • I guess it's so we don't have to force a UDFA QB to be in serious consideration for QB3.  QB4 will be just a camp arm and maybe a stash on the PS if he looks half way decent. They will not bring in competition for Bryce if you haven't figured that out by now.  He's either going to sink or swim.  The next QB with a legit arm on this team will be when we move on from Bryce.  I think this is the ramifications from the Darnold/Mayfield debacle.
