DWill, JStew, and Tolbert

I think that we will see it a good bit, especially on short yardage plays. There's so many different plays that we can run out of this set. I really looking forward to it.

Cam and a single RB IMO is more unstoppable. D has to prep for playing a true passing formation....

Why fix what ain't broke? Oh, bc people are scared our Julius Peppers like QB might meet resistance getting in?

it does nothing to limit newton. it gives him more options and that is what makes sense for the offense to be dedicated to. the more quality options you give newton, the more effective he becomes.

i just can't see how people don't realize this.

Outside of goaline work it 100% limits Newton and the mismatch he creates. In a wishbone you usually run 1 WR. 2 max.

Spread option type looks makes a D pick there poison. Defend the deep pass or play Cam and the RB. Wishbone slants it toward a D knowing the deep pass is less of a threat......less targets downfield to worry about. We were efficient bc we ran out of pass formations...even at the goal. Why revert back to the 1960's unless it is a gadget? Yeah, we got talent at RB. The real talent is at QB though

Having 4 runners in the backfield isn't making life tougher on a D. It keeps everything in front of the D. Less stress on them.

You want a great run attack....give Cam targets downfield. He and a RB will carve teams up. That is what made the run game the most efficient and best in the league.....and people want to CHANGE that?

Not much option in a spread option if you only have one RB.

Dude, you can jump up and down on that pedistal til you are blue in the face. Cam and Stew need help. Whether it is Tolbert to block, or DWill for misdirection, or any other variation on the theme. All four at one time may be a stretch, and it is being treated as such. But by the same token, your idea needs a little refinement itself.

When you catch a scent your are one hell of a blood hound. However, that still does not give your opinion any added weight. Spread option can be used in many different ways. Your way may work, our way may work, hellz, neither could work. Well... that arguement didn't work.

Oh yeah, DWill and Stew saw the field together a lot last year. Especially toward the end when DWill caught up to the playbook. So don't spout nonsense, MKay.

I think that Cam under Center with D. Will directly behind him, with J Stew and Tolbert flanked behind D Will is more unstoppable and it's not trying to fix what isn't broke, it's being creative and unpredictable with what you have. In addition, as far as our Julius Peppers like QB meeting resistance....assuming that you're comparing height, I want my Franchise QB meeting the least resistance as possible. I think that my formation will force defenses to play the run more after we've had a fair amount of success with it, then guess what, my Franchise QB can walk into the inzone w/o resistance and still do the Superman!

Well, last year they had the best ground attack in the NFL. They were the best bc they played into Cam's strengths first and foremost

Cam and Carolina had were so good for 2 reasons. One, they ran while teams had to defend the pass (passing formations)...and bc Cam is likely the best goaline threat in the NFL.

The wishbone is a running formation. You run out of it. It is not Cam friendly.....it is what you do when you don't have a QB. Cam is about going deep....and hurting people with his legs. He hurts them bc he is running the majority of the time out of formations that aren't true running formations. Having teams lined up to stop power running formations....limits the mismatch Cam represents.

Cam in the spread option with Stewart....with defenses worried about having to defend Smith, Olsen, LaFell, Tobert/Murphy/Adams/whatever 4th option you select........stresses a D. Cam and his RB can carve up teams just like last year. They play the pass..easy running. They play the run, watch out deep ball. Stress for the D.

In the wishbone....it is a run. And if they aren't running teams have less to worry about in the passing game.

Reality is, doing the wishbone would just make people feel good about not having talent clapping from the sidelines. It is an example of how John Fox still haunts this fanbase. People claimed to of wanted to move on....yet so many resist getting away from old school ground and pound. I mean really, the wishbone should be a staple of this offense?

I'm sure that Chud can design a pass out of the wishbone that would make it more Cam friendly. It's not like it's an unpassable formation. A lot of Cam friendly plays starts out visiably as a run play and Cam leads it as such just before he pulls out and passes. This would be no different.

i could be wrong but the formation i've seen the panthers run is not what most people associate with the wishbone, cam is lined up in the pistol formation with tolbert and either stewart or williams lined up beside him & the other lined up behind him. they have also used alot of motion & misdirection with all the backs.

Sure, he could....there are also much better ways to utilize Cam Newton's skill set and the problems he creates. What you are fixated on is the RBs and finding away to prove it is worth having so much talent there. Everything Chud has shown, is that his offense is going to be Cam focused.

Chud is a passing guy. Cam is going to decrease that number some....but we had a rookie QB last year and I can't recall the last time RBs/FBs carried the ball less in Carolina. I don't see 1960s football being the next logical step. Fun for a down here or there..... Bc Chud likes fun. 80 times? No chance IMO

I think it limits the huge mismatch Newton is....and that is what I want the offense dedicated to. Double Trouble probably saw the field together a max of 10 times all last season.....I doubt the trio suddenly sees it 80 times.

Newton needs to be limited by reality. I don't care how massive and mobile he is, running your QB into defenses over and over is a recipe for disaster. The one thing I look most forward to this year is Cam Newton NOT HAVING over 700 yards rushing and 14 TDs.

You have enough in the backfield (you did last year too), where you INTENTIONALLY running Cam Newton in goalline situations and constantly during the game is just plain DUMB, regardless of how well he can run it.

Beat your running backs up. That's what you're supposed to do. It's also why they tend to have shorter careers than other positions. How much shorter than most QBs do you want to make Newton's?

Reality, normal QB rules don't apply to Newton.

Sorry, but we finally have a franchise QB....one who coincidently threw for more yards than any rookie in NFL history with no offseason. It is a passing league. We finally have a OC who gets it....and history supports that a successful Norv/Chud offense loves to pass.

So the radical approach here is to suggest we run the wishbone 80 times or so this year......not the other way around.

How many times did Newton get stuffed, popped, and beatup running this year? You don't even need all 5 fingers on one hand to count them. More worried about him getting hurt passing than running. He runs smart. Even the most conservative QB will sacrifice his body at times....if you are going to focus on his one helicopter at the goal.

The first thing I thought of when you said, even consevative QBs will lay it on the line. Was Elway and his helicopter.

Reality is what we make it. Your reality is that Cam is rewriting the rule book for QBs. I see that. I embrace it.Whereas, I don't want him running that much. You don't see it. You will not even think about it.

Hard headed son of... Yeah, he runs smart, he has that innate ability to know when to get down. But the read option requires him to carry the ball. We want to limit those carries. Hence, you see all the damm RBs floating around? I think the brain truse sees the same thing. Let him be him, but you can limit the called plays, and he will still be the best QB in the league.

Do you realize Cam and Stewart tore up the NFL out of the spread option looks last year?

there are tons of options. Stewart can take it, Cam can take it.....or Cam can hit one of 3-4 rec threats downfield. the spread option only uses 1 RB

Eli Manning will sacrifice his body.

I don't want Carolina taking the wheels off a 22 yr old Newton. just silly....will also hurt his game enormously this early into it.

Cam wanted the spread option looks. Chud gave it to him. Cam gets to call the shots there. I don't think Cam is worried.

We have the chance to see something special with Newton....embrace it.
