I find this article by Mike Florio pretty funny.

I say we:

Pay Stewart the same contract as DWill.

Extend Thomas Davis.

Draft another linebacker to play in the 43 next year with our top spot.

Keep Captain at the no. 2 CB position.

Count on Edwards to be a stellar DT next year.

And last but not least make sure that we can run the ball effectively in a passing league, with a top arm talent at QB.

6-10.....but hey it's better than the Jags.

Hey man, but we can run the wishbone if we wanted

Why do people always look at the teams in the previous Super Bowl every year and make the case that its a passing league, why the need for a running game?

Sure we have Cam and Smitty, but whos after that? We're not NY with Cruz, NIcks, and Manningham or NE with Gronks, Welker, and Hernandez. NY won the Super Bowl bc they ran the ball better than NE.

We have the offense thats capable of winning in a shootout, but we dont have the defense who can get off the field in three downs. Thats why we should run and kill the clock still at some point, help make that defense not look so poor.

Cam and Smitty and Stewart and Tolbert and Williams and Olsen....

The point I am making is that we need help on DL, CB, S, WR but we continue to bulk up on LB's and RB's.

Kurb said trade DWill (actually his salary, not so much the player) and use some of that cap room for a DE, or a DT, or a CB that will actually help this D. Rather than scratch your dick because you ass itches like you propose "by running more it makes the D better".

How about actually making the D better, and have 1 feature back and 1 really good backup....like the rest of the smart teams out there?

Quit bitching about money. None of you are a GM

I am going to go really slow here.

Last season we overspent on an aging runningback.

We are a good offensive team with Cam leading the attack.

We are a really poor defensive team with glaring holes at 4 major positions on D. S, CB, DE, and DT.

We have too much money tied up in a position in the NFL that does not win a lot of games. RB

Many of us want to spread out some of that cap money to other positions.

We have no control or say in where this cap money goes. So why waste time worrying and stressing about it. Let hurney do his job and do your job as a fan supporting your team. I say "You" as a generic term

"Job" would indicate that I am getting paid to cheer for the Panthers. I am not.

I am however supporting them Panthers with my money, and thus, can have an opinion on what is done on this team.

If you think that I stress about it, or worry, you are sadly mistaken.

I would like to see the cap money go to some other positions, but you are wrong in that we have no control over what happens, we do, it's our money that keeps the team rolling.

You were talking about trying to be like every other high offense in this "passing league". Cant compare Stewart, Tolbert, Williams and Olsen to a team like GB last year of Jennings, Nelson, Jones, Cobb, Finley, and Driver (passing team).

Sure, it would be nice to get rid some of Dwill's salary so we can go and sign a position to fill a need, but seriously a 3rd? No way, if it was a 2nd sure I would not hesitate. Dwill age is up there, but he has split time carrying the ball his whole entire career. He's younger than a Ray Rice, MJD or Forte right now.

Who can we go and sign right now that will fill a hole for us? Best thing is wait till next year FA and Draft and fill those needs. We have a good amount to try and sign a decent defensive player in 2013 FA.

You play with what you have. Why try to copy some other team when you dont have the personnel for it. All these smart teams out there doesnt have the best D if you kept up. NE, GB, NY does not have good Ds. So tell me again.

There is no denying it is a passing league. Super Bowl champs doesn't prove that. The majority of playoff teams prove it, the NFL rule changes dictate it, the league wide offensive production prove it.

You want to win have an elite passing team. Next on the list is D....then running last. It is now a reverse formula. There of course are exceptions...

Majority of teams once in the Playoffs win by having a better running game than the opponenent at the end of they day.

Did I say that I wanted to copy anyone? Nope.

I said that this is a passing league and we are still stuck in the 70's thinking that you have to have a loaded backfield to win football games.

You have to be able to run the ball, I got it, I just don't agree with spending 10% of our salary cap on the running back position.

I don't want more WR (although we need a solid no. 2) we need more CB's, DE's, and DT's and we could have some of those if we weren't so heavily invested in the backfield.
