Beason's new blog

Beason posted a new blog on his site today.

http://www.jonbeason.com/blog.html

on his shoulder.. "It’s been 13 weeks since my shoulder surgery and I’m coming back fast. I feel good right now, I’m just starting to do a lot of the strength stuff and the shoulder feels great. It won’t be 100 percent for a while but the fact that I can lift now and start getting my strength back is a key. Until now all I could do was legs and abs, but now I can start to get aggressive in the weight room."

nice....i don't see him as being anything but honest.

three things that really stood out to me:

yet another player kind of going against the thought that the defenesnive scheme won't be different than with trgo and that it is fox pulling the strings...

Our new defensive coordinator is Ron Meeks. I really like his system, its a fast aggressive system. He wants guys who will chase the football and that’s my style, so we’re on the same page. We had an immediate connection.

We also brought in some help from the draft, guys who will hit, extremely athletic and fast guys.

So I feel good about what I’ve seen so far.

and re: pep...

Everybody is still asking about JP, and at this point I’m pretty sure he’ll be a Carolina Panther this year. I don’t know more than anybody else does but free agency has pretty much run its course this season.

He said if he’s back he’ll be ready to go and that’s definitely good news for us and from a fan standpoint. Some fans have been rough on him but hopefully he can just push through it and stay focused.

good to know...beason has more access to him than reporters. trust his viewpoint a lot more than any talking head.

and about next year...

I look forward to having him back. We were right there last year close to the Super Bowl, and there’s no reason we shouldn’t be right there this season too.
agreed 100%

Beason's a class act through-and-through. I enjoy reading his blog because he never holds anything back. Glad to hear his recovery from shoulder surgery is going well and he and Ron Meeks are hitting it off early. He's going to have another All-Pro season for sure.

bs, Beason is a liar and his pants are on fire! The media told us Peppers refuses to take calls or talk to Panther players! :P

also, sounds like Beason was politely calling some of our fanbase a bunch of idiots for the irrational Peppers bashing.

as soon as people see him walking on to the practice field at TC the fans are going to move on. same thing when the season starts. his first sack will have everyone happy with him again. once he shows up fans will have a short memory.

he'll handle the fans better than jenks did. that dude was a prick at TC his last year.

yeah, a couple of big plays week 1 to help get a win and the 65+ Huddle Peppers bashers will be acting like they never said half the junk that has been spewed. I can understand a fan's loyalty and getting made but people just make up stuff now and act like he has been a bum who is now washed up.

meh, i won't deny the things i said about him. i don't think that he typically gives it all and i lost respect for him in the way he handled everything...not that this matters to him or anyone.

what i wanted all along was for him to be back next year and play hard for the team. i saw that what the panthers built last year was a good foundation to work from going into next year.

but, I think a stance like yours makes a lot of sense.......you haven't gone overboard and acted like Peppers is the anti-christ and acted like we have guys who can outperform him easily.....claiming cutting him makes the most sense I don't believe.

just to be clear, you aren't doubting what beason is saying, are you?

what he is saying is fast and aggressive is what they do and that is attacking wherever the ball is. what is aggressive is the front 4 and the pressure that they consistently are going to be putting on the QB.

you can have a fast and aggressive defense without blitzing. the colts have had a very aggressive defense, especially their front four without blitzing.

the players and people who went to minicamp said that he is pushing the defense to attack. it isn't a passive defense with a bend but don't break mentality. his defense has been described as piranha-like. the players have talked about him getting them to swarm to the ball. that's pretty aggressive, imo.

    • You literally did it right there and didn't even remember it. Sorry long Friday.
    • TMac to finish up Feels good after pads came on. Physicality is a little different, playstyle is a little different. Refs let the players play, so he has to earn his stripes to get calls and just has to be better playing through contact. Focusing on staying confident and listening to coaches. Not much has changed for him, still trying to be his authentic self. Was asked about boxing practice he was seen doing. He's done that since he was a kid because his dad was a boxer and taught his siblings. Was the youngest and got beat up the most, but now he's the fourth of sixth children. Boxing helps with his cardio and being reactive with his hands to the ball + DB. Admits to struggling the first couple of days, hats off to the DB corps for making him better every single day but had his best day on Wednesday. Even the best get got. Just have to remain confident in preparation and abilities. Confidence will take you only so far, and that's where his resilience plays a factor. XL is authentic and great to have in the room. Can rely on him to be the same guy every day. They make each other better. Everybody feeds off of each other and when one person wins they all win. Happy to be a part of the receiver room. Was asked about how he was laughing harder than everybody else at XL getting his feet in the water off the back of the boat: "Man he needs to be stopped bro... He can't be serious but he was serious. It's all good." Playing against the increased amount of press he's facing in practice is helping him get more physical. His job is to catch the ball, so if it touches his hand he has to come down with it. Only catches with one hand if he needs to, but that gives the QB a bigger catch radius. Had a pregame routine where he did a 360 one-handed catch, but doesn't do it anymore. Working on being a pro: Getting into the facility early and getting treatment, eating better, etc. Just wants to win re: rookie goals. Anything he can do to help the team win. "I'm looking for to the season man and keep pounding."
    • DJ Wonnum up next Felt the defense came out ready to work at all levels and took over practice. New standard around here. Young guys have to know they're coming in to work. Last year was not the standard. Nic and Princely are fun. Different personalities but loves what they bring to the room. Sky is the limit for them. Nic sits next to Wonnum, Princeley sits next to Jones II. Allows them to be better mentors. Feels great and ready to go Incoom's athleticism allows him to bend and get low even to compensate for not being the biggest guy. Can set the edge. EDGE guys are helped when the ILBs can get home because it allows them to be a little more free while still in scheme. DB being back means his dominance is back. Can set the edge from the 3 or wherever he's at to make the runs bounce to the EDGE guys. Winning mentality and standard this year. Championship level from practice to how you live off of the field. Accept greatness and excellence with guys wanting to come to work every day. Not settling for anything less. Been in guys' shoes that are fighting for roster spots so he knows how to address them. Remembers not knowing what's next, especially as a rookie. Have a clear mind and ask the older guys a lot of questions. Has a good relationship already with Pat Jones II due to knowing each other and talking football all of the time. Can make hand gestures and know immediately what to adjust. Taking care of his body and excited to start the season. Getting it acclimated to football again by being able to tackle and bring players to the ground. Didn't know they were playing live tomorrow. Don't tell me it'll be "thud." Browns next week will allow them to hit somebody else and get a feel of what a different team is doing. Also allows the team to see where they're at on offense and defense. Ready to play football. Not worried about the QB matchup for Cleveland, going to play hard regardless of who is back there.
