The biggest problem with Armanti...

Catching the ball in tight coverage. Anytime he has to fight for the ball because a DB is right on him he loses. If its a quick throw and he has room, he looks decent.

The problem here is he is not especially fast and doesn't run overly impressive routes. When playing against first string DBs, he may not be open much.

I would rather give his snaps to Joe Adams who may turn out to be a legitimate threat at WR.

He certainly needs to be more agressive-- can't be a nice guy on the field. With that said, there was at least one play (throw to him in the endzone) where he had no chance because he had a Steeler completely wrapped around him-- a blown call.

Is he in the top 6 receivers out of this bunch? Honestly its hard to tell with the limited throws spread out among so many guys. I guess we'll just have to trust that Rivera/Hurney make the right call. Of course, those 5/6 guys won't been seen much anyway, so it might not matter.

During the 2010 and 2011 seasons the team only carried 6 WRs, PR and KR included. So I'm not sure how you bend the numbers to keep Edwards when you're starting:

Smith & LaFell (1&2)

Murphy & Gettis (3&4)

Adams PR

Pilares KR

And if you need to go 5-wide, use Pilares, who is already a better receiver than AE.

That's 6 WRs on the roster....

wouldnt surprise me if he gained his old job back some time this year. As great as Adams is at picking up yards hes gonna cancel it out at best this year with those fumbles. would anyone really feel confident in him during a big game high pressure situation? at least armanti can catch the ball.

This came up in one the other threads last night. Its 100% true he can not fight for the contested catch. Tutu is even worse because he can't catch wide open passes half the time. I'm ok with cutting them both, we already have our top receivers that are reliable and hopefully 5 when Gettis comes back. I'd honestly rather use the spot on Bryant just to keep him safely on the team. That deep ball he caught was a thing of beauty that could not be done by anyone outside of our top 3 (4 with Gettis)receivers.

Armanti dropped his first 6 camp punt returns with no pressure and no one running towards him.

which is completely irrelevant to what he is capable of doing now.

if anything that makes it even more worrisome. armanti dropped punts because he was learning. Joe Adams has been returning punts forever and he has a dropping issue. which means it might not be fixable

    • I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.
    • Where do we get our T-shirts and hats? Pretty sure this is the first championship ever in professional basketball or football in Charlotte!
    • Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
