Best Roster top to bottom that I can remember

Maybe I am just being a complete homer but I can't recall ever being this satisfied with our roster from top to bottom(starters all the way down to practice squad).

I even went to profootballreference.com just to refresh my memory, but this may be the best deepest roster we have ever had. Before anyone goes full stupid on me, yes I am aware we have had better secondary's and D-lines. But we have never had a better QB group, offensive line,RB group,or linebacking core than this. And once again I am referring to the overall depth of the team.

You have to go back to 08 to find a roster that could even come close to comparing to this years.

08's advantages biggest advantages over this one were vet's nearing retirement vs young guys with potential(Moose over Lafell and Lucas over Norman).

Even in 03 the Super Bowl year the only advantages was the defensive line, safeties and wide receivers.

So anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong but looking at our past overall rosters compared to this one I am having a hard time containing my excitement.

I'd say it would a really close toss up between the 03 team and this years. Only thing that will truly tell us is if they play up to their ability. That 03 team had a never die attitude and it wasn't over until that last whistle was blown. Hope these guys have the same fight and mentality in them.

our offense is great but our defense and ST are overall poo

2003,2005, and 2008 were much balanced imo

i would actually say that 06 had a better roster as well going into the season... jake coming off a pro bowl, smitty coming off a triple crown, keyshawn, d-will being new... and a great defense

too bad we blew it that year, i was convinced they were going to the SB

In 03 Jake had a good year, but he also had a good running game and 3 bomb receivers to bail him out.In addition Peete and Weinker were behind Jake,so if he went down the Super Bowl never would have happened. Steussie at LT was bad news and o-line depth was horrible, corners were worse than they are now. Greg Favors was a starting LB, so that confirms the depth their sucked too.

05-Keary Colbert was our # 2 receiver(tells you receiver depth was horrible), Wharton started at LT, Tutan Reyes was our RG(tells you o-line depth was bad), Carstens started all 16 games at DT because of Jenkins injury.

06-Eric Shelton was d-will's backup, o-line still had no depth or even a good starting crew, no safety worth a poo next to Minter, still no depth behind Jake. Really the only depth on that team may have been at d-line.

Also none of those teams had Greg Olsen or anything close to him

Chris Gamble, Charles Johnson, Beason and Kuechly all have pro bowl potential. We have very good depth at linebacker and ends. Norman looks like he has serious potential. Godfrey and Nakumara can be solid. Edwards appears to be a solid run stuffing DT and Fua seems to be coming along fine right behind him. Hardy is solid with potential to be good. That leaves us with a big question mark at 3-tech, but overall the D is going to surprise a lot of you if don't think were going to see massive improvement from last year.

Greene, Mills, Lathon were our best LB core and it's not close. O–line is arguable but Byron Bell and a rookie bring their score down. Last year's line was better until this one proves itself. I'll give you QB and Rb on this team but that's all.

Hard to say but when this season is said and done I don't believe it will be the best Panther season ever... Which means this isn't the best Panther team ever. Our Super Bowl team was the best.

Yeah, if 03 Jake went down we don't make the Superbowl....but we aren't making noise if Cam goes down now either.

2003 D and ST put that squad ahead. Those unit were signifantly better. That D was built to play in that era as well. Secondary didn't need to be as talented back then. Manning Jr would be abused like Captain with today's rules.

    • There always has been collusion, as long as I have been a fan. It sure looks like they tweaked outcomes too. Good luck proving it. As much as I despise a lot of the ownership I'm still not sure what would happen if it was forced to change.
    • I had started typing my post hours ago and didn’t finish it and just came back to finish it, posted it, then saw yours and saw we were pretty much saying the same thing - even the games that stick out to us most.  I don’t think a lot of people remember that SF playoff game, but I felt like I had just got mugged in broad daylight.  I remember them calling Mitchell for unnecessary roughness, and then I remember watching Boldin take a super late cheap shot, dead in front of the ref and then showing him watching the whole thing in replay…  the refs let them have a fuging field day and didn’t do jack poo, but if we so much as breathed the wrong way it was fuging 15 yards.  Each team playing under two completely different sets of rules.  poo hurt.  I was enraged.  I’ve never went back to watch either that game or SB50 and never will.  fuging robbery.
    • I’ve said it a million times since, but it’s impossible to keep them from affecting the game.  In SB50, they literally took the game from us, and they did it early.  Cotchery’s no-catch?  The miraculous amount of times we converted for a first down only to have it suddenly called back make it a 3rd down and 15+ against the best defense in the league that specialized in rushing the passer and man coverage on the back end?  And you do that enough times, you kill the morale and confidence of the team you’re doing it against.  It’s telling the one team “you can do whatever with impunity” and the other “you can’t do whatever they’re allowed to do.”  It changes the aggression level.  It essentially neuters one team and allows the other to do whatever the fug they want.  Imagine you call the police for help and they get there and tell you to sit still while the other party beats the poo out of you and you can’t defend yourself.  That’s what the officials do.  There is no way to avoid them affecting the game.  And more often than not, it’s the most subjective calls they use to do so.  Even in SB50…  you saw the Broncos commit more egregious penalties than anything we did, and barely any of it was called.  Their OL was holding all fuging game and the refs did nothing.  We already had our work cut out for us against two future HOF edge rushers and the refs played to their advantage with that.  From what I remember, both Oher and Remmers were called for holding at various times and their hands were in the INSIDE of the defender.  It was garbage, but all by design. Also, if there is any video of it anywhere, go look at what the refs did against us back in 2013 against SF.  The fix was in there too.  They stepped in early and often and ensured we knew we were not allowed to play with the same aggression or intensity SF was.  It was disgusting as well. at this point, I hope Vince McMahon, errr, I mean Goodell just finally scripts us to win it, because this poo is not won via competition or off merit.
