Sick of it.

The Panthers are just an absolute mess of a bumbling, moronic franchise. The reality is that as long as JR is our owner, we Panther fans may as well find something else to do on Sundays (or whatever gameday happens to be) - either that or continue to torture ourselves. Imo JR doesn't deserve my/our devotion. I know we love cheering for "our" team, but the reality is that we are just another man's bitch, cheering on his ineptitude, faithfully giving him our dollars and always returning like a wife who is continually beaten yet is convinced that this time her man will change.

I think we need to look at ourselves as fans. What are we really doing other than championing the success of someone else's business. I know we all love competition, and many of us- myself included- played sports growing up, and it's just a part of who we are. I guess I am getting to the point that I just realize the foolishness of it all. Even if we turn it around in future years and were really competitive and finally reached and won a Super Bowl- so what?! Wave our flag, promote our superiority?! Strut around like we've done something. LOL! We're all pathetic.

I don't get how folks can think this is JR's fault. I think he has shown a willingness to do his part to field a winning team and a professional organization (with the exception of the labor dispute year, and that was extenuating circumstances). All Jerry can do is hire in people he has confidence can do the job. You don't make hasty decisions about those people based on three games. When a sufficient amount of evidence has accumulated to base a decision on, JR pulls the trigger (see Capers, Seifert, Fox, and his own sons for examples). Whatever our problems are, they don't start in the executive suite. They start in the locker room.

sounds like you are giving yourself permission to go find another team to cheer for and i for one am 100% behind your decision.

either do that or suck it up....but whatever you do (and not just you, but all these little whiners who can't find anything good to say about the panthers that call yourself "fans") just do it and get off the f*cking fence.

I don't think you really read my post. I'm giving myself permission to not cheer for anyone.

Tommy Truefan has spoken.

I am a Panthers fan because I enjoy football as entertainment and like to cheer a team I have always had an interest in. But I am adult enough to realize that it is a business transaction I willingly engage in, and I don't feel like I got cheated when they lose. I accepted that risk as part of the deal of being a fan, and that's that. But come on, if you're just now realizing how juvenile that attitude is that's just sad.

If you're posting here you aren't the type of fan who just quits rooting, so quit pretending. You'll be there next Sunday, and each and every Sunday. Signing right up for it again. And you know it, so stop lying to yourself.

See you next Sunday.

Your are right in that these guys will never stop cheering. They may stop buying psl's and start buying single game tickets. Thats what the panthers listen to.

I don't feel as if I've been cheated when they lose. I do feel like it's a waste of energy win or lose. We all act like the Panthers successes are our successes, and their failures are devestating to us. We get so invested in the outcome of someone else's efforts, and I am just amused by our foolishness- mine included. I realize that my post is counter to the nature of a fan forum. I feel as if I'm losing my desire to be a fan- of any team. I feel like I'm reaching a point where I won't get any joy from the Panthers success and I am losing the ability to care one way or the other.

The way to do it is relish the successes and ignore the losses. You are not the players, you have no responsibility to feel bad for their failures. That's the benefit of being a fan.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
