Stupid Fan Mentalities

Recommended Posts

1) If you find the thought of cheering for a franchise with only four winning seasons embarrassing or something to be ashamed of, you are stupid.

A fan loves their chosen team because they can. Loving a team because they win is the sign of an emotionally fragile, juvenile bandwagoner.

2) You don't have to justify your fandom to other fan bases. They have as much to do with the successes of their chosen team as you do:

NOT A DAMN THING AT ALL.

3) You do not have to feel bad when your team loses. You had nothing to do with the outcome. If your happiness suffers more than a general bemused disappointment you are an emotional infant and should not be allowed in adult conversations. The beauty of fandom is claiming the successes (through a mental fiction) and ignoring the losses. Being an angry, bitter wreck over the outcome of a game just hurts you and your family for literally no reason at all. It doesn't make you a better fan, just an idiot.

People, it's a game. I love my Panthers when theyre great. I love them when they suck. I trash talk with other fans for the fun of it, but their retorts are insignificant barbs. I love the Panthers, but I will never allow them to make my life miserable. That's not fandom, that's sheer stupidity.

If this truth offends you, then you need to reassess your life. Just because I point out the fiction of fandom doesn't mean you have to quit being a fan; just embrace the advantages and forget the annoyances. It's your choice.

Get rid of Hurney and cut his balls off.

Fire Rivera, that guy just stares at the field.

Sell this team Charlotte cant support it.

Trade Newton, at least we'd get a pass-rusher for him.

Make Steve the highest paid player.

Anything else I'm missing?

Those kind of reactions remind of a child who just got put in timeout. I swear, if adults have these kinds of reactions it's no wonder our country is so screwed up.

I am so sick of this team being split about being analyzed piece by piece pointing out specific players for losses (especially Cam) in losses like this. I almost question what analysts are thinking when they ramble about individuals having a bad game costing the whole team. Yes that leads to the whole team losing but we lost as a TEAM. We let the Giants get multi-demisional on offense and that allowed them to get blitz happy on defense. the game was over as soon as they got the running game going. Then the offense has to play from behind and that is not our identity as a football team. We have unbelievable talent which is why we are all frustrated from losses like this.... but this team will be scary once the pieces fall in place and they can jell especially on the defensive side of the ball (where the real problem lies in my eyes). If we get stops we give deangelo and company the ease to slowly move the ball down the field without playing from behind... rushed. They should still move down the field regardless but this game is all about momentum sometimes. Thursday we lost as a team as a whole including the coaching staff.... We will rebound.... its a long season.... too much talent on this football team not to. Whether we lost by 1 or 29 it is still a lost and move on to the next one... Next week can be for the division lead people. Not time to jump ship. Lets stay behind these guys!

The way this place has looked you'd think we'd have lost by a million and traded Cam to Dallas for a french fry.

We have a right to be mad about losses. We do invest something very valuable into every game we watch: time. We also spend on the tickets, shirts, etc... What made me madder about the Giants loss than anything was I put my money were my mouth was and bought a ticket. I showed up and cheered because I believed. The jackass PSL owner that sold his upper deck seats for 125 bucks is looking like a genius today and I look like a dope. I had Giants fans waving at me while I left my home teams stadium. Why wouldn't that bother me?

Now there is healthy and unhealthy limits to sports anger but we as fans invest way to much into the team to not care about the results.

I think people who get emotional over how emotional the fans are, are too emotional.

I went to the Minnesota loss last year. I was at the Arizona disaster in '09. They sucked but I was over it by Monday.

    • Good game so far.  Solid trench battles, two young well built defenses, and my 2 fave coaches.  Stafford is really damn good.  SEA OL is overperforming.
    • Okay then. To me that means Russell Wilson was Coryell. Because I see the proposition completely in the Russell Wilson punt/pass put it up for grabs mold. Count on the receiver to catch it or knock it down.    And the reason I thought that was the intent with Legette is the abysmal downfield game from 2023. As in, there was barely any.   I look at it as if… the result of a deep attempt isn’t as important as the opponent understanding they have to defend it. So I was all for some 50/50s. Coryell, Walsh whoever.  I do favor the Coryell approach personally but also very much value versatility, it doesn’t have to be strict. Just make the defense defend the whole field, however you do it. It has to include downfield throws.
    • Sold, or in the process of being sold. Could be either way. Consider this for a second... Last season, our defensive coordinator steered what many have called the worst defense in NFL history.  Canales would absolutely have been justified in firing him, and no one would have blamed him if he had.  But what did he do? He gave Evero another chance to come back and prove he could be better. Does that tell us something about Canales? I think it does. Now apply that to Bryce 😕
