If you really don't want to see this happening in your league, I don't see how you can let a player off so easily.

I think it depends really. I mean, yes, it did look intentional, and yes it was pretty bad, but it could be a first time offense. If so, I'm not for going out and suspending a dude 16 games for a helmet-to-helmet hit.

The loss of 1 game check (a 1 game suspension) is actually a pretty big deal.

Now, if this was someone like James Harrison, where he is constantly called for helmet-to-helmet hits, I think you start getting into the range of 3, 4, and 5 game suspensions.

Well, it only takes one hit to paralyze somebody. The thought of a player paralyzing another player with an intentionally dirty hit only to have the league call him up the next day to say "This is your last warning" is just disgusting to me. It's a dangerous, deadly hit that is also very illegal and the players are very aware about the rules concerning this kind of situation (or they should be anyhow). Players shouldn't be using their helmets as weapons with the idea that is okay until they get slapped on the wrist with a fine or suspension. They should get punished harshly on the first offense. It's not okay to play around with other people's lives, even if these thugs have no problem with it.

I really like DH-B (I saw him a lot in college and loved the pick over Crabtree), and hope he is doing jumping jacks right now.

[beginning sarcasm]

But did you see those guys playing football and all? They tried to prevent a touchdown and stuff. Defenders, trying to defend their team?! The nerve.

The thought of safeties not being able to count milliseconds is astounding.

[/ending sarcasm]
