What would you have said before the season

With these scenarios we now know?

1. The defense would be worse than it was last year?

2. Cam would have more INT than TDs?

3. We wouldn't use Mike Tolbert?

4. Our only division win is against the Saints?

5. Our only win is against the Saints?

6. The franchise would hit rock bottom on National TV?

7. Rivera lacks the emotion to fire up the team?

8. Beason would not perform at the same level?

9. Our special teams is worse?

10. We are running a college offense?

We tried to use Tolbert on two very important 3rd down passes vs Atl and he dropped the ball. That's not a scheme or game plan issue. I thought that 4th and 1 was the right time to see what we had in Tolbert as well. In that case...he was not used.

Beason's form is surprising but he has an injury.

1. The defense would be worse than it was last year?

Not worse...

2. Cam would have more INT than TDs?

Technically he has 7 total TDs, 5 INTs

3. We wouldn't use Mike Tolbert?

Tolbert has at least 1 15+ yard rec in 3 of 4 games. Not sure why people though he would get many touches here

4. Our only division win is against the Saints?

Thought Tampa would be it but 1 division win isn't a shock in itself

5. Our only win is against the Saints?

Wouldn't of guess that

6. The franchise would hit rock bottom on National TV?

I wouldn't call that rock bottom, could be an early turning point if we continue moving in the direction we started the week after

7. Rivera lacks the emotion to fire up the team?

Meh. Tony Dungy is a great leader. Only the team knows.

8. Beason would not perform at the same level?

That shouldn't be a shocker, that was the realistic assumption

9. Our special teams is worse?

Not worse

10. We are running a college offense?

Anyone who watched last year should of known what we are

I was optimistic, so I probably would have laughed in your face if you told me those things. That will be the last time I make the mistake of having hope in the offseason that the Panthers might be good the following year. The time for hope is over, it's time for results. Until wins occur I will just watch and enjoy, no more starry eyed imaginings of rings and titles. Just here and now.

At the very best, I figured we'd be 8-8. I was thinking more along the lines of 5-6 wins again. I knew we we would have problems when we didn't fix the pass rush/D-Line. Either we fix the back end of the defense with studs and have no pass rush or fix the pass rush.

I shook my head at all the people on this forum that thought we were going 10+ wins. It is not realistic with our talent or coaches.

    • I mean, it's easy to say, "Morgan was Fitterer's right hand man, so he agreed with all the mistakes Fitterer made." Life and managerial structures don't necessarily work that way. GMs aren't perfect, and there are going to be hits and misses most every draft. Most would say that if you can get a couple of starters in a draft that you're doing pretty good. Even if X busts, there are still people in that draft, and an undrafted free agent, that look promising. JT looked pretty good yesterday. Calculate in the 2025 draft, which I think is fair, and I'm not going to complain. Where I think Dan has not gotten it right is overpaying a couple of free agents. and, sorry, I don't accept the "Panthers tax" argument because there is modest overpaying and gross overpaying.  I'm very much more critical of Dave Canales. He has to develop the talent that he is given. He also is responsible for his staff and personnel decision is on game days. I'm glad that he saw fit to get JT more involved yesterday. He gets zero credit for Hunter Renfrow, as should've never fired him in the first place, only to rehire him due to injury.  But Dan, I'd give another couple of years.
    • Pass rushers are spot that outside of the drafts elite typically take 2-3 to develope and bro is tripping in 2 games... this team SUCKS no need to be so dramatic
    • Learn to laugh more. The inevitable is on its way and if that was a high point for those people the there is lots more laughter ahead.
