Okay ya'll, I'm as pessimistic about this team as anyone, but let's try and get some positive energy going before the game this weekend. What would be more satisfying and could motivate the team better than anything else than a win over the hated Cowboys?

Keys to victory:

#1: TURNOVERS. Here's how you know the Panthers will lose....Cam Newton throws an INT. The statistics are overwhelming - The Panthers are 7-3 when Cam doesn't throw and interception (two of the losses being against Atlanta and Seattle this year, the other being the Minnesota game last year that Olindo Mare fuged up). They are 0-14 when he does. Might as well shut the game off if he throws a pick.

#2: STOPPING THE RUN. With Luke Kuechly in the middle last week, the Panthers defense looked as good as it has in a long while. The defense scored a TD. They held the NFL's leading rusher in check. The Cowboys will be without their top RB. Will they crumble and allow another scrub like Andre Brown to torch the defense?

#3: RUNNING THE BALL. The Panthers will need to control the clock to win. Keeping Tony Romo in check will be hard, especially with Chris Gamble out. The Cowboys are going to score, that's a given. Get the ground game going to control the clock, keep the ball out of Romo's hands.

I actually think there's a chance of a Panther win this week. If they lose the turnover battle, and allow Romo too many possessions, they will lose. I have no hope for the secondary slowing down the Cowboys passing attack, but they could shut down the run and make them one dimensional, increasing the chance of a victory. Should be a close game - just hoping this "fold in the 4th quarter" trend stops this Sunday.

This is such a misleading stat, it's not even funny

We're not losing cause Cam throws a pick, that is so ridiculous. Last year our defense was terrible. Now, our offense is terrible. We only won 1 game for a reason cause overall the team has played poorly and inconsistent

Misleading, maybe. Accurate? Yes. Panthers tend to win when Cam protects the football, lose when he doesn't. The team isn't good enough to overcome those mistakes.

There you go, the team isn't good enough

Like you mentioned he didn't throw a pick the past 2 games and we lost. Overall we're not winning cause we're not playing good enough and consistently. It really is the coaching that's the main problem

Only one way to win. Offense to finally explode.

And Chud has been to fixated with Cam (which is why we are so heavily read option) and the chunk passing plays. Offense won't explode until he realizes the RBs need to carry some weight and attack mid level in the passing game

It's both...a better team could overcome those mistakes, but since they can't, Cam can't throw INTs. I'm not blaming him for the losses where he throws a pick. Hell, Delhomme was good for at least one a game and the Panthers won all the time. Just going by the stats. Hope they change, but I'm not optimistic.

Cam's turnovers don't count any more or less than turnovers by DWill or Stew or Smitty or Joe Adams. A turnover is a turnover.

      This whole thing is sooooooooo dumb, why any of this is an ongoing news story is ridiculous. There are only 2 people who should actually care about this, his wife and her husband. Affairs happen, not that I'm saying it's okay to cheat, but at worst, the only "bad thing" that could be coming around from this affair is that information was passed between them, the same type of info that any coach and journalist who are friends may share with each other to help the other out. The Patriots shouldn't care as long as it doesn't affect his focus on the team.  And those saying that he's lost the locker room and their respect over the "lying" have to be fooling themselves.  Half the players in that locker room are more than likely actively or previously have cheated on their significant other.  So it's not like they're looking at him saying, "what a liar and terrible person, I can't trust him as my coach anymore"

      Seriously?!?! First SNF game of the year and it's two teams that didn't make the playoffs last year? I thought they always made that Week 1 SNF game a banger with two great teams from the previous season. EDIT:  Just looked, last year was Bills-Ravens, previous season was Lions-Rams, Giants-Cowboys ironically before that (but both coming off the playoffs).  From what I can tell, this will be the first time since 2020 that SNF's week 1 game isn't 2 teams from the playoffs the year before, and the Cowboys were in that one too, against the Rams who also didn't make it the year before.
