So I tune into talk radio a few minutes ago...

True the media is a "joke" but Cam has brought some of it on himself. He loves the camera during a TD celebration( while only earning a 7-15 record) but he (while being the face of the franchise) also needs to choose his words wisely while infront of the camera. To much is given much is expected. Some people on here blindly support Cam and find no fault in him whereas others can't wait to bash him and say I told you so. If we as Panthers fans can't agree on Cam what do you expect from the media. They are no different than the Huddlers on this board they voice their opionion. The one difference being they get paid to do so.

Agreed...sick of hearing the negative Cam Newton talk.

People need to realize this isn't Dallas, New York, San Fransisco or another big market. This is CHARLOTTE. I'm not saying "cater to Cam" but what I am saying is realize the talent that is here and don't pile on a 2nd year QB who was statistically the best rookie QB in the history of the NFL last year.

New York piled on Eli because they could afford to...he wasn't going anywhere. He was already playing in the best football town in the world on a team that he jockeyed to play for. The same can't be said for Cam. You better believe Jerry knows that and its why he acted sooner than later with getting this team on the right track.

So think before you call into the Zarzour radio show and pile on a kid who is freakin 23, possesses unmatched talent at the position, and could lead us to super bowls if we give him time, some talent surrounding him, and a coach that does more than pick his butt crack all game.

I was impressed with Jaws, Dilfer and Young on Monday night countdown - they had some very reasonable comments about Cam - haven't lost sight of his talent - their advice was for him to chill out a little and give himself a chance to grow.

Now if our fanbase would just chill out a little and give him a chance to grow...

    • Given that the immediate impact we need at edge. We almost certainly address that in Free agency, not in the draft. Same with Linebacker, unless Styles or Allen is still there at 19. I think the same for OT.  What is the position that we could draft in the 1st round and get immediate help in the first is how im approaching their decision-making  I know ill get dragged for this, but im thinking they go DT in the first. A guy that can play right away and be a complement to D.Brown to wreak havoc at the LOS.   So unless a top tier LB is there, I think DT will be the move.
    • I think people forget that by his last season Steve Smith had the ass and he played like it - and for no really good reason other than that other stars were emerging on the team and he didn't want to share the spot light.  He was more of a locker room distraction than he was worth. He went on to have great performances with the Ravens' but G-man made the right move allowing him to move on from here.  I personally think it was addition by subtraction and we don't have a super bowl run with Smith on the roster. Steve Smith remains a narcissist who I've never seen internalize his own culpability when it comes to his relationships with others - it's always somebody else's fault as to why he was forced to act like an asshole. This video is a product ad.  I'm cringed that either of these two Panther greats are party to it.
    • I think the ‘issue’ here is that we had two guys that clashed for several reasons. In some ways they were different, but in other ways they had a lot in common, and sadly they couldn’t see the forest for the trees. Sometimes when you have two people like that together they are either going to love or hate each other, and if it’s the latter, you need someone to mediate and hope the two individuals are capable of putting their differences aside for the common good. In this instance, they couldn’t find a way to move forwards together because I don’t think either guy wanted to play second fiddle to the other. This video basically said neither guy had the tools to bridge that gap and mend that fence, and perhaps also were unwilling to give an inch at that stage in their lives and careers. So a divorce, while unfortunate, was always likely. Do we win the Super Bowl with Smitty and Cam? Well, it’s one of life’s big what ifs for us Panthers fans.
