I almost wonder if the gut the roster part is such a bad thing. This team seems to have an ideological clash in the locker room between the "new, modern, 2012" mentality and some of the "good ole boys" left over from the previous regime.

Can't completely gut it....won't have cap room to bring in real bodies to replace them.

re: subject at hand...

we definitely need some kind of real cap specialist to get stuff straight, but it's not something i'm going to worry about. it isn't as disasterous as it looks. we'll lose some talent, i'm sure, but we'l be able to afford more. hopefully the new GM(s) will have a more balanced approach to team building than hurney and he sure won't have the sense of loyalty that hurney had to players who he had nothing to do with bringing in.

i'm sure that JR wil give him a very short list of guys that he can't touch (which will probaly be limited to cam, smitty, kalil and TD) and will build around the ones that offer the most potential both now and in the immediate future with the smallest cap hit.

i don't know if beason wil restructure, but i hope he does because he's still a good presence to have around the team, imo. and once he gets healed all the way up should be very good for a few more years. i think there's probably a couple others who could restructure as well, but we'll also lose a couple guys as well like dwill and CJ.

point is...as ugly as it is, it's all manageable and i don't have to know how, either because i'm not a finance guy. i'm not a capologist. i just know that there are guys out there who can make it work. other teams have worked with worse messes and gotten them cleaned up. somone wil get this cleaned up as well.

i'm just not worried about it.

lol if you're worried about this.

everyone in the league has figured out the salary cap. It's not a thing anymore.

No, LOL @ you sir...for thinking that everything is all hunky dory. This team will likely look very different next year, and we're probably gonna lose some key personnel and playmakers.

In having said that, you are correct. They will figure it out, no doubt about it. The problem will be who stays vs who goes.

I know that you'll love to counter that we're 1-5 and can stand to lose some people because obviously this isn't working... But that's the wrong answer. Hopefully everyone restructures... But at this point it's kind of hard to believe that they will when other immediate contenders will be able to offer them more. We're about to go through rebuild #2 in as many years... This was unforeseen... Nobody even here thought we'd be 1-5... Not even you

Good

Cut D Will, Cut Beason, draft or pickup CB/WR impact players and we will be a better team

I love them but its time to move on. JMHO

You've been a member here 5 whole months longer than myself... You have over 4 times as many posts as I do...

Don't play that high and mighty card with me brother... This isn't about getting in pissing matches. It's about every one of us being better than we are currently.

i'm sorry, but that made me laugh.

and i've been around a whole lot longer than that.

keep on fighting the good fight tho....bro.

Hey our GM sucked? who knew?

There were only a few retards here who thought he was good at anything, much less being a cap "genius".

Horrible GM no matter which way you slice it.

I hope we get a GM with great scouting credentials and can actually build through the draft, instead of just talking about it and whiffing on nearly every pick and trade he does.

This means 2nd and 3rd rounders, not the gimme 1st round RB/LB picks.

And to think some of you could care less if the next GM has a firm finance background.

Just exactly how difficlt do you think it is to add up the Cap year to year?

A 4th grader could do that.

Evaluate what a scouting department puts on your desk. Understand the Agents and Players you're dealing with, no Julius Peppers failures, thanks.

Hire the right people to work for you.

Win.

#89 will more than likely be gone. Any and everybody thats a vet or Fox guy needs to go. Turn this into Cams team. Cam cant talk to 30 year old vets the way we need him to, and fans dont even hold those guys accountable anymore thanks to the national spotlight on our QB. Clean house, get new faces and fan faves in here.

Lesson one.

Cam better learn to respect what Smitty has accomplished.

Blow out #89 to appease Cam?

Smitty is a HOF qulaity talent who has run routes for some of the worst QBs in the league.

Steve Smith is not a problem, he's an asset.

Look elsewhere.

As an outsider looking in, maybe it would be in the teams best interest to trade a few players before the trade deadline. Trade down in this years draft and hoard extra draft picks for the 2014 draft and re-build through the draft focusing on offensive talent to grow with Newton.

My 2 pennies.
