Steve Smith vs Champ Bailey. Who wins?

Where was Randy Moss when he was in Oakland?

Nowhere, he had no QB and look....nothing....just think if Tom Brady had Smitty?!

Denver4Life is just trying to stir up the pot, let him go, he doesn't know what he's talking about...at all...

It's funny how when people are playing the Panthers for 1 week they think they're "experts" on our team...yet all they can talk about is Steve Smith is a jerk, he punched some guy...blah blah blah...they have no idea about our Carolina Panthers...let them talk...because that's all it is...

Champ Bailey had it but is losing it.

Randy Moss, no matter how good he is, is a one trick pony (that happens to work well for him right now)

Steve Smith has not gotten the ball as much as he is used to. Compare all you want but who on the current Denver roster has won the Triple F*cking Crown my Denver friend?

Have you watched the games, or are you just looking at pro bowl voting?

Champ is a very good corner, but nowhere near the top in the game anymore.

I've watched every single game Bailey's played since he was a Bronco.

Let's look at your ridiculous statement "Champ has been owned by the Chargers for three years in a row."

In 2006 Bailey finished second in defensive MVP voting and was a unanimous all-pro selection by the associated press. He had ten interceptions and one TD and was thrown at 32 times all year. The interception for a TD was in the Chargers game. He pretty much destroyed that year. In the Arizona game going up against Fitzgerald and Boldin he was targeted once and had two interceptions. This was because he left his responsibility to break on a lame duck ball from Leinart and intercept it.

In 2007 he was thrown at even less. This accounted for his much lower level of interceptions but was also because our rush defense was so bad that teams never needed to throw on us. We were "officially" ranked seventh against the pass, but why throw when you can pass. Despite the drubbing we took from the Chargers, Chambers did not catch a pass in the first meeting with the Chargers and in the second meeting Chambers caught four passes. The problem was our horrendous run defense and was no fault of Bailey's. Gates and Tomlinson just destroyed us.

This year Bailey was beat twice and this was one play action. It's largely because we have the worst starting safeties in the league and so they can't trust the safety help over the top. He did have an interception that game, though, so it's not like he was getting owned. Other than that game, Champ has largely shut his side of the field down. Against Randy Moss on MNF he knocked two passes away including what would have been a TD before pulling his groin and he's been injured ever since.

So there's my evidence of how what you said is bogus. Now it's your turn to cite examples and explain why he's as bad as you say he is. Obviously I expect you to be as detailed since you expected as much from me.:toetap05:

Champ is a very good DB. He has had an off year because of the injuries. I don't know if he is still THE BEST because Namdi is giving him a run for his money. However, when healthy, he is definetly top 2-3.

The problem for the Broncos and their fans this week is that Champ is NOT healthy. A healthy Steve Smith vs. Champ with a groin injury is not even a discussion. A groin injury limits your lateral movement and hampers your first step quickness. If you are playing a step behind Steve Smith you are screwed.

This is not a knock on Champ, if he was healthy I would say he has a better than average chance of shutting Smith down (i.e. less than 50 yds recieving). He isn't though and everyone knows it so its not even a question.

If they try and man up on Smith with Bailey and have their sh*tty safties on top coverage it won't be pretty. Plain and simple.

***DISCLAIMER**** Because of Denvers horrible run D Smith may have less than 100 yds recieving if we run for over 500 yds.

"My arm is stronger than John Elway's and Brett Favre's." - Jay Cutler

Well considering John is 23 years older than he is and Brett is around 14 years older it better be.... Besides that fact, what kind of player says something like that? A three year snot-nosed kid proclaiming superiority over two Hall of Famers? Denver fans are proud of that? I thought some WR's were bad.

Actually you might want to do your homework on the subject. Jay cutler reached 50 TD's in less amount of games breaking a franchise record and he did it faster then Elway.

And as far as Brett Farve goes the dude opened himself up to being Put Down or Dogged when he came out of retirement saying he still has what it takes. Now go look at the Game stats Between Cutler and Farve when the Broncos took a bite out of the Big Apple!

As far as Cutler goes we love it when everyone underestimates the "Gunslinger" he always plays better and everytime the other team's fans are like Damn i take that back Cutler has an Arm!!!!!

And for clarification the comparison was pointed at when they were all the same age.

But anyways as far as the topic goes Champ and Smith will be a good Match-up. I don't know where the reports are coming from that says champ is not a 100% Because he will only play if he is 100% due to our chances of getting to the playoffs. We are not going to jeopardise one of our key players over a non conference game. And champ has been practicing for the last 2 weeks.

He hasn't been practicing at full speed, yesterday was supposed to be the first time he has tested his groin at full speed since the injury. link

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
